I’ve lived alone most of my adult life. There are boring times, especially if it gets to the weekend and I haven’t arranged to do anything with anyone.

But I find living with people intolerable. Every little inconvenience quickly weighs on me.

Shortly after my partner and I met, we got an apartment together (we were living in NYC). We almost broke up due to our housekeeping differences, so we decided that for the sake of our relationship we wouldn’t live together. Then I had to relocate, to help my parents deal with their health problems. So I moved in with my parents, and my partner bought the house next door, which just happened to be for sale.

Now my parents are both gone, and my partner and I are living next door to each other. We both love living alone (plus my 2 cats and his 2 dogs), and the time we spend together is stress-free. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
