I rarely have time for a soak and I don’t own a claw-foot. Showers can be good, but a lot can depend on time allotted and frame of mind. If you have 15 minutes to get from sleeping shorts to front door showered/shaved/dressed, then its all business.
Still, after work, to strip off the clothes of the day for a slow hot shower? Given good water pressure, it can be rather nice.
I LOVE taking showers. It’s so nice and relaxing, and I love that nice, clean, tingly feeling on my skin when I get out. (I love water, I think I was a fish in a previous life)
Can you still get those non-skid thingys to put on the bottom of your shower? So you have some added security.
Love taking the shower itself, love being dry and clean afterward. I hate being wet and cold, though. I towel off as quickly as possible and wrap my hair so it’s off my face and shoulders. When I had shorter hair, I didn’t hate being wet so much. I guess it’s mostly wet hair that I hate.
I could and it sort of helps but if I drop the soap or shampoo or washcloth or loofa or anything really I’m sort of screwed and non-skid thingies won’t be sufficient to stop a fall.
Seriously, unless I am VERY familiar with the shower stall or there are sturdy grab-bars installed or a bench, and even then sometimes, a shower is a frightening experience for me. By carefully checking for obstacles prior to entry, strategic placement of my glasses for quick retrieval, and familiarity with my current shower stall I can accomplish a shower without excessive anxiety but really, there’s no way to make me actually comfortable in a shower. I take them because I don’t have a good alternative and I like to be clean, but what I really need is something I can sit down in so I can feel like I’m not liable to fall.
I realize that shower-lovers may have trouble understanding my viewpoint but really, I don’t like showers because they feel very unsafe to me.
I love taking a shower. After work I walk 3 miles home and when I strip down and get in the shower, i actually make “ohhhhhhhh” and “ahhhhhhhhh” noises because it feels so good.
I would sleep in my shower if I could, I love it that much. I want one of those huge showers with like nine different shower heads so I can get inundated by hot, showery goodness.
I shower twice a day, so I damn well better like it.
I also live in a climate where being too cold is rarely an issue. In fact, I often end the shower with a blast of cold water to cool my body down and prevent it from sweating once I get out.
Usually I enjoy showering, sometimes I love it. I have a nice shower stall in my bathroom, and a pole with shelves on it, so I can put my glasses on a shelf, and I can keep my shampoo there, too. I do feel a bit anxious if I have to shower in an unfamiliar tub or shower, because I get anxious if I’m separated from my glasses for whatever reason. But showering in my own familiar shower is a great feeling, especially when I’m not in a rush.
I like showering after a long, hard day. Sometimes I have little time for one, and that’s when it can become a pain. It’s a necessary pain, but a pain nonetheless. I do thoroughly enjoy lengthy weekend showers.
I cannot comprehend having difficulty navigating a shower with bad vision. I have bad vision and have never felt insecure in any shower, let alone my own. I can and do shut my eyes for a good portion of the shower with no worries. Perhaps my situational awareness is better than some?
I love long, candle-lit baths (and I’m a guy!) I even enjoy listening to new age music while doing so. The problem is I rarely have time for that anymore. sigh I am trying to make more time for myself, though.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been in a nicely built shower, where it’s comfortable to stand, and has plenty of room to move, and the temperature is just right. Instead they’ve been either in a bath, or in a tiny enclosed space where every movement I make risks touching a cold uncomfortable surface (glass wall, slimy shower curtain, etc), with additional risk of slipping on a slick floor.
So for those, and a few other, reasons, I said “dislike.”
A well-designed shower can make a big difference in your experience. My stall is a bit too big, really, but it has a low lip so it’s easy for me to step in and out of, and the stall is designed so that the curtain stays neatly inside. The fixture is a bit high for me, which means that it’s at a good height for average height people.
In general, my bathroom is a pleasant room, and just the right size. It is a little short on storage space, but I have a sort of built in vanity with drawers in the dressing area right outside the bathroom, so I can store things in the drawers closest to the bathroom. It works out nicely.
