I failed to mention we also have a frequently used hot tub on the deck, only accessible from the MB. Someone mentioned above about being a fish. I think I should have been a dolphin in a prior life.
I love showering to the point that I get up long before I need to leave for work just so I can take a nice long shower. I’d like bathing too if I wasn’t 6’ 3". I can’t fit more than half by body in the tub at any given time and my knees are never covered, so it is a pretty unpleasant experience for me (except in hot tubs which, unfortunately, I only get to use maybe once a year if I am lucky). I hated showering in my very first apartment, though, as the shower head was around chest height on me. I had long hair at the time too, so I would need to turn around and bend over backwards to wash it.
As to people feeling unsafe in the shower because they don’t have their glasses on, I am really surprised to find out that anyone feels that way. I can’t see more than about 6 inches away without my glasses (worse in the shower) but I have never felt unsafe in any shower. I just can’t understand that particular reaction at all.
Meh.
If I’m home alone for the day and not going anywhere I definitely will not take a shower. Therefore, I concluded that I don’t like them, but I don’t hate them either. A shower id just a necessary preparation before socializing.
It really depends on why I’m taking the shower. If I’m coming from the gym or camping, for example, I love it.
If it’s just my routine shower for the day, then it’s like anything else.
I love taking a shower, and having a bath, and swimming. I have a tat of a tropical fish on my shoulder and I’m a pisces. I was definitely a Parrot cichlid in a past life.
I used to wear glasses but got laser surgery, now being able to see which bottle I’m groping for makes showering even more enjoyable. The best shower I had was in a hotel; it was spacious, had a rainshower shower head, three body jets, a radio and flashing LED lights
I have really bad vision as well and I also have no issues navigating in a shower. The only difference for me between showering without my glasses and showering with my contacts is that in the latter case, I grab the appropriate bottles immediately.
I love showers and I love baths. I start off each morning with a good 15-20 minute shower and in the evening, I’ll take a shower if I got sweaty, otherwise I usually end the night with a book, a cup of tea and a bubblebath. If I’m bored, I will take a shower. If it weren’t for the fact that they dry my skin out, I’d shower 3 or 4 times a day.
If you can see six inches without your glasses that about 5 and 3/4 inches further than I can see. While my vision is correctable to 20/20 without my glasses it is truly horrible, much more so than most other people. I can’t see my hands reaching for things, I can’t see my feet, the taps, the edge of the tub (showers that are walk-ins are much safer for me), nothing really. I really do have to memorize where everything is spatially before I ever get in.
As I said, familiar shower stalls aren’t too bad, but unfamiliar ones are a nightmare. Maybe it’s just me, but there it is. That’s why I hate showers.
Huh, so I imagine you’re not a fan of the blindfolded walk trust exercise? Because I am all over shit like that. Tonight, I’m going to tie a bandana around my head and take a blind shower to see how different it is from my usual experience.
Perhaps.
Our roomie drives me nuts, she automatically turns on the light in the bathroom in broad daylight when she goes in to pee [yes I know, in the grand scheme of thing it shouldn’t bother me, but it is my peeve, so suck it up.] It isn’t like we have one of those apartment bathrooms with no windows, it has a lovely big window with great light [southern exposure] hell, I rarely bother to turn on the light at night and have no issues managing to sit down and pee, and even wash my hands afterwards in more or less dark [with a tiny nightlight] and I will even shower in the dark - mainly because I am too lazy to bother turning on a light. The clothes hamper is on the back of the door, right next to where I stand my crutches and the grab bar, I have a comfortable shower chair, and I use a bathrobe that hangs next to the shower, so I could be blind and manage to get clean.
I love a good hot shower [or a cool one in the really hot days of summer] and we have one of those corner shower shelf unit things that holds all the bathing goodies [working on a bottle of nag champa scented liquid body soap now, I may have a new favorite to replace my Dr Bronners!] We always shower before using the hot tub, so we don’t have to worry about floating around in dirty water
For Ben Gunn, it’s cheese, but for me, it’s hot showers that I’d pine for, lost on a deserted island. (Well, that, and other people, and music, and … ah well, showers!)
I voted for “no feelings about it.” I suppose that, when I’m extremely grungy, I feel better after having showered… but otherwise, it’s neither a burden nor a pleasure.
You might as well ask me if I “enjoy” brushing my teeth! Again, I suppose it feels good to brush when my mouth tastes awful in the morning… but I certainly don’t get a thrill out of it, nor do I wish I could do it more often.
What would that be?
Dislike, because my hair is long, fine and incredibly thick (meaning I have tons OF it). Proper shampooing and conditioning takes a good amount of time because I need to make sure I actually thoroughly reach all the hairs, especially when rinsing. Ever seen hair that has shampoo/conditioner residue? It looks like it hasn’t been washed.
Then my hair will take forever to dry.
And if it’s not summertime, I haaaaaaate finishing up and then having to step out into the relative chill. Ugh.
Although I admit, showers after getting all sweaty and grimy after working in hot and sticky weather (like last summer when I worked on repairing an old barn’s foundation) are heeeaaavenly.
Cold, of course.
This thread has reminded me of my dream bath.
I LOVE taking baths but I hate standard American bathtubs. To me, showers are for cleaning but baths are amazingly relaxing.
My dream is to SOMEHOW, ONE DAY have a deep soaking tub with an integrated seat. You sit upright and can still soak up to your neck. :: dreamy sigh ::
It makes way more sense, IMHO, to have a small shower stall and seated deep soak tub in roughly the same space a stupid standard shower/tub combo takes up.
I absolutely love taking showers. I often stay in there much longer than necessary. If I don’t have my shower in the morning, I basically don’t wake up. And I feel much cleaner than in a bath.
I feel the same way about showers and sex.
The thought of it is meh and exhausting and I tend to put it off longer than I should. The actual experience is really wonderful and leaves me promising myself I’ll do that more often.
I dislike showers. I’m still not used to washing my face in the shower even I do it every day.
I hate the feeling of the droplets on my face.
Even though I don’t like it, though, I tend to shower for 30-45 minutes per day. I guess it’s because I have very long hair.
I voted “Like it.” Sometimes it can seem like a bit of a chore—but then it’s an unusually pleasant one, as chores go. Second only to cooking as the most pleasant of chores. I recommend showering as a highly salutary practice to be kept up regularly.
I love showers and would have them twice a day every day if it didn’t dry out my skin so badly.
We have a spider shower head so the water falls from above, I’m not a fan of shower heads that come out from the wall.
