Do you ever leave a place because of politics?

For truth! (I’m up in Genesee county, same thing and we get all the Detroit-area stations.) You forgot the non-stop traffic reporting.
NPR is good. And there’s at least one Canadian talk station - can’t recall which one - which is actually decent, although I believe it’s down low on the FM dial.

I consider myself fairly liberal but when I lived in Colorado I avoided Boulder, and here in Michigan I avoid Ann Arbor. All that silly white-privileged-riche-neuvo-hippy shit gets tiresome really quickly.

I stopped going to the Baen Bar (a forum mostly about Baen-published books) because they started to go more and more crazy-right. The last thing I recall reading is a rant about how things were going badly in Iraq due to sabotage by Democratic traitors in the CIA.

Shhhhh! You’re not supposed to let the sheeple know. We must let them continue to believe that they and their vote actually matters.

Small scale: I left a garage sale without buying any of the baby clothes I’d come to buy, because the homeowner was playing the Rush Limbaugh show loudly on the radio.

Medium scale: I left my grandfather’s house early from a visit because he was blaring Fox News on the TV. (This was partially because I didn’t feel like listening to Fox News and partially because I think it’s really rude to keep blasting the TV when you have guests, though.)

Large scale: I left my parenting message board after 10 years of participation and being a mod, because I got tired of all the insane fundamentalists and hardcore conservatives posting there.
