When it’s blatently obvious that you’ve spread your sick germs to someone, do you apologize?
Well I suppose it depends on the illness. If I had an STD, I would feel like an idiot for spreading it. But a common cold, I always figured if you are susceptible to catching a cold at the moment, if you don’t get it from me you will get it from someone else. I have kind of a pet peeve about people bitching that they caught a cold from me, hey look, if I have a cold so do 1000s of other people in the local population, don’t blame me, blame the audacity of the virus and your susceptibility.
It would have to be something hard to catch that could only be caused directly by me (like STD’s/AIDS/rabies). Otherwise, you can’t prove it’s my germs. Germs don’t belong to anyone. They’re like the wind, or something.
I think I’d feel bad if my cooking gave someone food poisoning. That’s not caused by germs though.
What ccwaterback said. Chances are, they have the same chances as I do, to get a cold. Most people use gas pumps, public restrooms, etc… And who doesn’t cough? I’ll only apologize if it was something I could actually prevent, like an STD for example. But no one around me is going to get an apology for that any time soon.
I was thinking more along the lines of the flu or a cold. STDs never even entered my mind. :smack:
I was wondering mainly because I came down with a nasty cold/flu and passed it to my husband over the weekend. I feel bad especially bad because he’s starting a new job today & he feels like crap. I actually apologized to him this morning. Didn’t know if anyone else took it to heart when they give someone else a cold/ the flu.
If you’re going to visit someone and you speak on the phone beforehand, warn them that you have a cold. That way if they want to go ahead with it, it’s their fault if they get lurgi. I tend to think this is especially important if people have kids. Give them a choice, if you can. Usually they just say “ah, who cares”, and you can visit anyway, plus they might have a Lemsip waiting for you when you get there.
If you’re married to the person it’s pretty much unavoidable, ime.
No, nor do I blame anyone for the germs I catch. It happens.
Like my girlfriend once said to me, “I never used to get sick until I met you”.
Now, wasn’t that a nice sentiment? I just wrote it off as a PMS episode. :dubious:
