I’ve never actually heard the term “button-up” shirt, and for me a button-down shirt does refer to the type with buttons on the collar. Can’t exactly explain the appeal, except for the cut and the material, and I prefer them without ties. I think collars that use stay are also cool…just not as sexy when tucked into jeans and the sleeves rolled up.
