I used to, but I don’t anymore. It’s all on my computer or in my cellphone. Do you have a physical address book that you keep people’s addresses/phone numbers in?
I have one since the day my cell phone completely died and they couldn’t get the information off it to load on a new phone.
I pretty much only use it for the xmas card list.
Fortunately my cell phone backs up to my Google Contacts automagically, so I don’t have to worry about it if I lose my phone.
I have them on my computer, which is backed up to an external HD and I printed out a hard copy that’s somewhere in the mountain of papers on my desk.
Yes, but I haven’t updated the information in it since I got my first PDA (since replaced by several generations of smartphones) in 1998 or so.
Same as cwthree. We still have our ancient (as in, bought before I got married) address book with individual slips for each person, you can line them up in whatever order you like, remove old ones, replace them with new ones, etc. It was our go-to for all such info… until we got our first Palm Pilots about 7 years ago. Now, obviously, it’s insanely out of date. I am 99% sure I know where it is, however!
I print out a list in a small font and keep it in my wallet. Some of the names and numbers are encrypted.
I have random slips of paper all over the house. And a book…somewhere.
Yes, and I just used it. I have the info on the PC and the phone, but those have both failed before, so I’m keeping the book as well.
Yep. Computer list, phone list, hard copy. This came in handy when some asshole hacked my email account and deleted my contact list.
I have two… and no cellphone. I like it that way. Now get the Hell off my lawn!
I also have an address book. (and a cell phone: I steppped on your lawwwwnnn, I stepped on your lawwnnnn. said in a childish chant)
I even code my names with each year I get a Christmas card from them. If more than 3 years go by without a card from them… OFF THE LIST they go. They have to write a 3 page essay to be put back on my list. (jk!!)
I have important addresses and info in an old Rolodex in case everything fails. Contacts in Outlook at work have the electronic version. I keep a printed version in case there are network problems.
I have a Christmas address book. In it I note which years I sent a card to which addressee.
I have a separate directory on my computers for work-related addresses.
My personal addresses are only digital, in the phone, 2 computers, and in gmail.
My work stuff is in a paper “black book” and not digital anywhere. That way other people can access it if they need to, and I’m on computer #4 or #6 or something by now, with no way of knowing when this one will fail and be replaced on a day I’m not here so I can retrieve digital info before it gets switched. So all information I store goes on the server and not on the PC, which doesn’t really help if Outlook is the main source of contact info. Plus if someone needs a number and I’m not here, I don’t want anyone to have access to my username or password so my “black book” works well in this environment.
Not in years and years. Well maybe, but I can’t imagine where it might be and no doubt no one in it still lives at the same address.
Yes. And I always know where it is, bar one time, and constantly update people’s info. And every few years I buy a new one and update it.
It’s tiny and fits in my purse and goes everywhere with me.
I have one somewhere, but haven’t looked at it in years. I think it’s a good idea to have one, just in case, but it’s just one more thing I really don’t want to carry around.
I do. I copied out addresses I wanted/needed when I moved out of my parents’ house and have actually added some info since then.
I don’t know why I don’t have a digital address book…I do have a Christmas card Access database, but I only open it once a year.
I write to my grandparents every so often (on paper!) and pull out my address book to look up their address for the envelope.
No.
Nor do I have a spinning wheel, a typewriter, or a fax machine.
