Do you have a piece of pencil lead embedded in your skin somewhere?

What’s the name for the part of your arm where it stops being the outside hairy part and starts being the smoother, less hairy skin on the inside? There, anyway, on my right forearm, about a third of the way down from the elbow. Just a small grey spot to be seen now, and my memory of how it occurred is similarly faded. I know someone stabbed me, I’m almost sure it was a girl, but I don’t know who or why, or whether it was on purpose. I was about seven.

Not me, but I’ve accidentally “tattooed” someone else. It wasn’t my fault! She said specifically, “Hey, Cellphone, can you toss me that pencil?” So, I did. But she didn’t catch it.

That was in the seventh or eighth grade, and when I ran into her post-university, she let me know that she still had the pencil point in her collar bone, and she showed it to me. Not my fault.

Plus, I got detention for throwing shit in class! I was just following instructions!

Webbing between my thumb and first finger. Stabbed with a mechanical pencil by my SO, about 15 years ago. Every few years I try to use it in a ploy for sympathy or guilt, but it didn’t work when he stabbed me and it hasn’t worked since.

One klutzy self-stabbing point, dating from my elementary school days, on my right thigh, halfway between the topmost part and the innermost part and about equidistant between the groin and the knee. Clearly visible still, although it doesn’t have that darker pinpoint in the middle anymore.

Palm of my right hand. Pencil point. Clearly visible. Just showed my girlfriend and she had no trouble seeing it. Been there for 30 years. I am 42. Male. Happened while I was goofing around in school.

4th Grade. 3 freshly sharpened pencils in back right pocket, points up.

Started running and caught my hand on the points. I can’t see them anymore, but I know they’re there…

Middle of my left palm from 1986. I was sitting in class putting my hair up with a pencil. It hung for a minute trying to get through my thick hair and when it gave it went very quickly straight through the bun to my hand.

It will have been 30 years this April for mine. It was the Friday before Spring Break and I was going to Florida with Campus LIfe for the next week. Friend walking the other way in the hall and I reached out to pat him on the chest, since he was going to be stuck at home for the week. He had a nice sharp pencil in his shirt pocket.

So there is a graphite tattoo in the center of my left wrist, about an inch below where my hand bends. We knew the tip of his pencil was missing, but I dug around in the wound with tweezers and didn’t find anything, so thought it had fallen out somewhere. By the end of my trip to Florida, it was apparent it had not. There is a really small lump there, and you can easily pinch the skin and feel the tip of the pencil still in the wrist.

Glad I am not the only one carrying one around. Although mine was done as a senior in high school, not in 7th grade. :stuck_out_tongue:

What a great thread!

Yup, sure did, but it musta been absorbed over the years!

Damn, I miss it now!:frowning:

Q

You know, I don’t even remember where mine is, much less the circumstances of the actual stabbing event. It was between two of my fingers, and it was pretty clearly visible for some time afterward, but I just looked on both hands and couldn’t find anything.

Getting ready for a Quiz in 6th grade the girl in the next row got up suddenly to go sharpen up her pencil, tripped and landed on me. The pencil was in under the skin of my palm about 1/2 inch, I can’t see it anymore though. The mark left from the rusty wire that got stuck in my thumb base disappeared long before the graphite mark did.

Wow - this poll was a real surprise. I ignored it for a day or two thinking the result would clearly be 99.9% No, but eventually entered my “no, you must be insane” vote to find I am in a definite minority.

Maybe stabbing each other with pencils is some American cultural thing that I don’t understand.

Right foot, no longer visible, about 8 - 10 yrs ago now.

Had a pencil in my overall bib, got out of the car in a hurry, didn’t notice it had dropped, lodged into ground pointed at me, as I stepped quickly into it, punctured the skin, graphite tip broke off and remained there under the skin.

Next visited showed my Dr who assured me nothing to worry about. But was careful to point out it was graphite - not lead!

This struck me as an odd question, but I see we are not alone!

In 10th grade I was puzzling over math homework, set my hand down apparently forcefully and apparently right where the pencil was, and got a chunk of graphite stuck in my finger. I tried for a half hour to get it out before giving up because it was too deep. The doctor said that since it was right on the knuckle to just leave it there, as it would be more trouble that it’s worth to cut it out considering graphite is harmless.

So there you have it. Another member of the Pencils Are Tricky club. Can I have my badge now?

One in my knee. I was kicking the chair in front of me absentmindedly in some math class. The guy sitting there jabbed back.

Mine was on my right palm and I can see it if I look really close. I was goofing around. I never thought of digging it out, that sounds painful.

Had one in my throat. Got it when I was running away from a bully, tripped and stabbed my self in the throat. I must have done it at an angle cause it was only a superficial wound. Only a small amount of blood.

I had no idea so may people had graphite tattoos.

I have one on the top of my foot, there was a pencil on the floor and it got caught between my foot and the couch. Hurt quite a bit from what I remember. It was my sister’s pencil, I still hold her responsible.

About an inch under my left eye, just next to my nose is a smudgy grey little freckle that used to be a pencil lead. Got it when I was about 7, in a classroom, squabbling with another kid who wanted to take my new and newly-sharpened pencil. I was pulling, he was pulling, I was pulling, he let go, my hand and pencil flew into my face.

Left arm, just above the wrist - did it age 10. Pencil was sticking out of my trouser pocket and I lifted myself up to sit on a wall and got jabbed.

Never had any bother with it, but it’s easily visible.
