I was asked to re-install windows on a laptop. The HD was formatted into three partitions, so I reformatted the HD into one large partition. When I stuck in a Windows install CD it turns out this does not work and one of the partition on the HD had needed recovery info on it. The end result being I can’t reinstall without a set of recovery disks that I was supposed to create when we first bought the laptop. Sony does not carry them (and may never have) and their solution is to send the laptop back to be reformatted for $99 plus shipping. I bought a generic PCG-505 recovery disk off the web but it does “not work on this model” as the message told me when I rebooted with it.
So, anyone have a PCG-505EX that they can use to create some recovery disks for me?
