Do you have any metal in your body?

And I remember reading your thread when you broke your leg and thinking, “Damn! Is she me?”

Hey, I’ve got that too! I don’t really mind it though… I’d rather have that than have my teeth move back to how they were before. I do occasionally cut my tounge on it though.

An easy way to remember: A fib is a little lie. The fibula is the narrower (‘littler’) bone.

I have a fake shoulder. I broke the knob off the humerus of my right arm (funny, eh?) and needed it replaced. (I know more about shoulder anatomy than anybody sane wants to. Don’t ask, I won’t tell.) It’s a little sore when I try to go past the range of motion, but the only unusual limit is that it only goes up behind my back a couple of inches less than the other one I had to go to jail for physio. (OK, the government shut down a prison and only saved one building, which is now medical and physio.)

I’ve set off the detectors at Vancouver airport a few times, and once at DFW. It varies from one machine to another, so I think it’s the tuning.

Whoa, I totally forgot that I have one of those too. I like it - my bottom teeth haven’t shifted at all since I got my braces off about five years ago, but my top teeth definitely have. Besides my boyfriend, you’re the only other person who I’ve come across that has one. We’re special!

In 2009, I busted my elbow and had to have surgery with pins and plates. I did my physical therapy. I have daily pain in my elbow. I cannot pick up anything that requires both hands and arms unless it is light and I use my right arm. Since it has been four years, I have accepted I will live with this pain the rest of my life. It really sucks. Any suggestions?

At least you’re not a zombie.

Oh, wait…

Do zombies like gold crowns?

I’ve got one of those on a molar, along with a titanium composite post that anchors a ceramic crown, plus a stainless steel artificial spinal disc. And, I found out today, that in two months, I will have about half a Home Depot added to my back for a two-level lumbar fusion.

As of late, I’ve felt like I’ve had a pile of lead in my ass. I just don’t run as fast as I used to.

It’s a full on sprint from these zombie threads.

I have a couple or three metal screws – titanium, I think – in my shoulder from surgery about five years ago.

Any zombie munching on my brain will be removing the stent placed in the circle of Willis.
And, of course, the dental work one acumulates over 50 years.

Just dental fillings, and a newly installed cardiac stent.

Got a rod and screws in my upper left arm. Maybe titanium but I wasn’t really paying attention at the time. I just knew that my arm hurt, and they promised that what that what they were going to do would make it stop hurting. So now I’ve got this Frankenstein scar on my arm that looks a lot better than it did almost 10 years ago when I broke my arm. Oh and so far I’ve been able to pass through scanners with no problem which is lucky since I don’t know much about it.

I had some screws and wire in one leg for years. Eventually I had to have a knee replacement in that leg, and in the course of the surgery they took out the screws and wire.

The screws and wire never bothered me, but my knee was deteriorating anyway (the whole thing was the result of an accident which really shattered my knee), so the replacement was necessary.

So one bunch of metal was replaced with another. The knee replacement has been completely trouble- and pain-free. The recovery was pretty good – I was back at work exactly one week after the surgery.

I do set off the metal detectors at the airport, though. I always get pulled aside for an extra-thorough pat-down.

Dammit, I came in here just to say this. \m/

No other metal, beyond the iron in my blood. I suppose I missed the opportunity w/ my tat, and may yet wind up with some from future tats.

Several dental implants. And since my heart surgery last year, my sternum is held together by wires.

I’ve got a couple of older fillings that are probably either silver or amalgam.

Aside from that and some loose screws in my head, I just have the usual collection of iron, calcium, sodium, etc. that you find in anyone’s body.

I have a shotgun pellet in the back of my head.

Wedding present?

Titanium plate in my skull.
