I wrote a joke on the chalkboard at Miller’s Bar. (They count on me to do that, and ask me what’s wrong if I don’t.) Instead of Oliver Faltz, my usual pseudonym, I signed it Anita Nothershot. When the dayshift barkeep got off work, she used a cell phone to call the bar and ask for Anita Nothershot. Several customers, hearing the name called, cried “Over here!”
A few times I have called a bar where I knew my friend was hanging out and asked for her by the nickname I gave her. Too bad I wasn’t there to witness the bartender calling out “Is Buckwheat here?” and my friend sheepishly coming to the phone.
Thanks for playing. Since the question has been answered, I’ll close this thread.
