Do you have your e-mail address hidden?

At first I was going to hide it but if I had,I would have missed out on meeting some amazing people. Especially in my newbie days when I was too shy-yes,I know considering some of the things I posted, people may not believe that-to email people I found interesting.

Nowadays though,I’ve come out of my shell  and email people to say,for example, “thanks for sticking up for me in the Pit.” That’s how I started talking to ** Crunchy Frog **. Or just had to share something I had learned-remember that info I shared with you, ** True Pisces **?

Plus…I don’t think I would have become as close to ** Stinky Paws ** if he hadn’t been interested by one of my posts and emailed me.

I had mine hidden for a while after some jerk emailed me wanting to discuss sexual matters.

But I never get mail from this board anyway now.

Nope, and I rarely get any e-mail from anyone here :(, nor am I bombarded with spam to a great extent :).

I usually hide my email address. Better safe than sorry - spammers who pick up your email address usually have a bad habit of selling it to other spammers. Once you’re on those lists, there’s no getting off. I like getting email, but I hate getting spam.

Not hidden.

Don’t get any e-mail though.

Or real mail, 'cept bills.

Or phone calls.

Or notes, or…anything much.

Rats.

Mine’s visible, 'cept I think it scares most people off.

I use a non-primary email address. I have it listed as one of the addresses I pick up whenever I start Outlook Express, so I catch any email that is sent to it promptly. But it doesn’t get a lot of email usually, and has never (so far) gotten any spam.

I have been getting some nice emails to this address lately, relating to some of the interesting topics discussed on this board. I like that. I sometimes take a while to respond though, since I can be an email slug.

Mine was hidden when I first started posting to this board. But I un-hid (is that a word?) it when I responded to a thread asking for specific information; I didn’t want to clog the board with long, long answers and step-by-step suggestions that would only be of interest to one person, so I wanted to give the person in question the option of emailing me for more info.

But to do that, I either had to post my email address in the thread, which seemed pretty dumb, or make it public. I went with the latter, and I used my primary addy. It hasn’t been a problem yet; I already get bags of spam (I’ve had this address for quite a long time, and it seems the longer you have an address the more spam you get), but it hasn’t noticeably increased.

I’m pleased with the way it’s worked, and I’ll continue to leave it unhidden. If I do get a lot more spam, or a lot of weird and unpleasant email, I’ll probably switch over to one of my backup accounts, though.

Mine is hidden since some of the people I’ve chatted with in GD scare me. A few have asked for my email… one of them was the guy who allegedly later sent viruses to several people on the board.
