Yarn. I like to have a good stash around “just in case”.
I also hoard canned tomatoes. I use them a lot & I hate running out, so I usually grab a couple of cans every time I grocery shop.

Ditto on the toilet paper. I usually have about two dozen rolls under the bathroom sink at any given time and another two dozen on a rack hanging over the door of one of my storage closets. I do the same with rolls of paper towels.
It’s good to see so many other toilet paper hoarders. My boyfriend mocks me often for what he calls my “Depression Mentality Toilet Paper Obssession”; and now I know I am not alone.
Pens and pencils. Especially wooden pencils, I’ll buy some if I see some that are interesting. And I never use them, because I prefer to use mechanical ones (I buy a lot of those too, but because I have a tendency of losing them). Pens not so much, but only because it’s hard not to find one at home–my parents give pens away at their business, so between those and free samples from the pen company, you can always find one somewhere. Finding one that works can be a little trickier though. I also have a lot of notebooks around, some which have barely been used.
Ah hah, you’re the one that keeps buying all of those goggles. I’ve only got one or two pairs left now. Mine are so bad now that I can’t see out of them but I’m afraid to open another pair. I’ve tried five or six different types over the years but I don’t like any of them.
On a related note, I’m going to be in St Louis this weekend and I’d like a place to swim. I’d perfer to swim with a masters team if you know of any. I’ll be on the western part, near Chesterfield. I don’t mind getting up early if need be.
I hoard my vacation time. Which means I rarely go anywhere. It just sits there on my pay statements, comforting me that I could take a three week vacation any time I wanted to. Which is dumb. Must…get…life…
Herbal tea. I frequently think to myself that it would be really nice to have a cup of herbal tea before bed while I’m reading or knitting. When I go to the grocery store, I carefully scan all the choices and pick one out. I never actually get around to drinking the tea, though, so I have approximately 8 unopened boxes of herbal tea in my pantry.
I’m another yarn collector. I have a whole stash filling up an under-the-bed box and a couple huge duffle bags. I just ordered more. I do actually only buy yarn for specific projects, but at this rate, I’ll have enough projects lined up to last me until I’m 300 years old.
For some reason, I also seem to have a LOT of lotion. I hardly ever use it and I can’t remember the last time I bought any. People give it to me for presents, though, and it’s just piling up in our bathroom closet.
I’m the same way. I have a nice tall stack of books waiting for me at home right now that will tide me over for at least a couple of months, and just thinking of them makes me feel happy and relaxed.
I got in the habit of hoarding quarters when I was in college, to use at the laundromat. It took me years and years afterwards to stop doing this, and sometimes I still find myself rooting around in my change purse to spend dimes and nickels rather than quarters.
I’m a tp fiend. When my office manager buys toilet paper and paper towels for the office, I usually have her buy a bunch for me. Also, consumables that I know will never go to waste, such as antiperspirant, toothpaste, rice, etc I buy in volume especially if it is on sale. I noticed this morning that I have 14 SURE unscented sticks in my bathroom closet.
ETA: I also just realized that I hoard paddling gloves. I like to kayak, so I keep a pair in the car, a pair at work, etc. I also wear them doing yard work to protect the backs of my hands from the sun (I have vitilligo) so I keep a pair in the shed.
Kroger-brand frozen strawberry fruit pops. I don’t want to find myself without strawberry fruit pops. I think I have 6 boxes in the freezer.
Are y’all thinking what I’m thinking?
Dopefest at Cicero’s house! Whooo!
I also hoard jeans. I haunt the thrift stores and buy any pair that comes close to fitting, because I always have such a hard time finding clothes that fit and they only cost five bucks and I don’t have a pair this color and my belt doesn’t work with the other ones and my best ones are getting a hole etc.
Bottle caps! Every year when I cleared out my school/college/uni bag, there’d be about 20-30 caps in there i’d put in over the year.
Q-tips - because I use a lot and what can you do when you’re out?
Pasta - cause it’s cheap and lasts forever
Mugs - find a mug anywhere with a large handle to fit all my fingers through, and it’s mine.
Bookmarks - they’re free
I probably should’ve just waited until after C3 posted until I replied to this thread, b/c apparently she’s me.
<— has 2 yarn orders & one of needles coming soon
I also noticed the sizable tea collection in both my office desk drawer & my pantry this morning, and I just did a lotion purge when I cleaned the bathroom this weekend. And now that I’ve cleared that space out, I’m starting to feel the need to go buy more.
This is me. My mother did this, and I always thought it was kind of insane, but now I see how nice it is to know you won’t be running out of anything.
There’s a part of me that really wants to hoard sneakers and jackets, but I’ve got that under control (mostly).
I’m a huge cleanser junkie - I used to have really bad acne and had to use one specific cleanser for years on my face. Now I can use whatever I want, so I buy a couple of different types at a time, along with toner. I don’t use the particularly expensive stuff - I love picking up something off the shelf at the supermarket or Target. I’ve gotten better the last few years - I actually manage to make myself use it all up before I let myself buy a new product. It’s very, very tempting, though.
Oh, and I love office supplies for some reason. There’s something truly wonderful about a fresh, new pen and making that first stroke on a clean sheet from a brand-new notebook.
Books, pens, pencils and kid’s art supplies. Pencils are really popular now as party favors and such, so the kids are always coming home with one. They also get new crayons and markers and art sets all the time so we have three big tackle box type things filled with them. I keep intending to pare it down, but I always get overwhelmed by the actual job.
I’m getting better about the actual art projects themselves. We used to store boxes and boxes of the stuff they made at school before I realized that there was going to be an endless stream of this stuff. Now I just try to keep a few choice pieces.
I have craploads of makeup, nailpolish, and cheap jewelry (impulse buying problem). I buy tp almost every time I’m at the store, whether I need it or not. Ditto coffee, rice, and tomato sauce. I have so many pairs of socks I could outfit an army with them. I’m going to stop there, lest someone think I’m even crazier than they do already.
This isn’t at ALL what I was thinking! But now I’m wondering what the hell goes on at Dopefests.
Ditto on salt, toilet paper, tape, batteries, pens and pencils, canned tomatoes, and herbal tea.
Fabric too, mostly from when the stores have their end-of-bolt sales, which explains why my quilts are scrap quilts. Except that I find myself having to buy fabric to finish them. I need more green!
I have the opposite problem with salt. I’ll often go for a week or more without buying it or putting it on my list when I’m out, because who ever runs out of salt?
