Yep, all because some racists and bigots crawled out from under their rocks. And they have a president that cheers them on.
Our next door neighbor is from Mexico and owns a roofing company. We used to see half a dozen trucks at his house most mornings, loading up the equipment and supplies and heading out to the jobs. For the last few weeks I haven’t seen any workers at all, and our neighbors truck is not in his driveway. We’re seeing the wife and children around, but no men at all. We live in Nashville, TN. We heard rumors that there were ICE raids a couple of weeks ago around here, but who really knows what’s going on? People are just disappearing.
I work 2 days a week for a landscape company. All of the crew are from Mexico and I’m not sure of their actual status so yes, I have concerns for them. I work the other 3 days a week for a company that rents bounce houses and the entire crew are Ukrainian and I don’t know their status either. I hope they’ll be ok.
But the one I’m really worried about is my grandson. The circumstances of his birth are unknown. Even though he has a birth certificate and is legally adopted, even taking him in to custody and returning him will scar him for life. He is very sensitive and I am losing sleep over worrying about it. He’s only 11 and we’re in California so maybe I don’t need to worry so much, but he’s very involved in sports and I’ve heard of ICE being chased off a ballpark or two.
Makes me sometimes wish I believed in hell.
There’s a special place in hell for any ICE agent who goes after kids playing at a park. 
My neighbor Abraham with the US birth certificate is fluent in Spanish but not at all English and happens to have a moderate developmental disability.
My neighbors and I have had conversations with him to arrange for us to advocate for him, to prompt him to show his certificate to ICE when they request it of him. He clearly has a governmental service coordinator who’s paid to help him communicate but sometimes he needs informal support.
…for now. (Not to be depressing about it, but I would be wary of relying on government services to help in this sort of situation. I’m sure the person who does it is great; I’m not as sure they will be allowed to keep doing their job.)
There is a good chance you won’t know they took him, and an even likelier chance he won’t be able to tell you anything. Do you have a plan that doesn’t involve due process…because they do.
I worry about the people across the street. They have 4 kids American citizen kids, at least for now. She doesn’t speak a bit of English. I’ve been told he doesn’t want her to learn English. I don’t know if that is true or not. We haven’t had any ice crap going on yet. We’re aa very small town in a purple state, but who the hell knows?
My best friend is a Columbian born naturalized US citizen, with a stereotypical Hispanic last name. She works in construction sales, so she visits construction sites quite often. I’m a little worried that she’ll be in the wrong place at the wrong time and get caught up in a round up.

I don’t know anyone personally. There are people I tangentially work with who are on various Visa’s, none of them Hispanic. I’m not really worried that they will get deported
Well, it now came to Summit County Colorado. I just moved from there, but ICE arrived in our idyllic mountain town.
Got a note for the higher ups that teachers are gonna ride busses to protect the kids. I just have no words. We know that’s that exactly the kind of shit these hoodlums will try. Snatch children from bus stops.
