Do you know more people who've had COVID or the vaccine?

Know 5 people who got it, one of them died.

Know 2 people who got the vaccines, both work in emergency rooms.

Six who only had covid, one of whom died.

One who only got the vaccine.

One who got the vaccine and then got covid and recovered.

I now know more who have been vaxed, since we had a mass inoculation activity through a professional organization. May it remain so.

Zero of one, zero of the other.

Via acquaintances I know three people who have lost their elderly parents or grand parents to covid.

My sister a health care work has yet to receive the vaccine and she has no idea when it’s coming.

I know a few people who’ve gotten COVID. All except one survived it, thank God.

I know exactly one person who’s gotten the vaccine. My 88-year old father, resident in a memory care facility, got his first dose of the vaccine last Wednesday. Second dose is schedule for February 3.

One of each. We live in NY but we were at our second home in my wife’s hometown, where all her family lives, in the upper midwest. Since NY was being hit so hard we thought we would be better off staying away for a bit. A few weeks later our safer spot was leading the US in per capita infections. Can’t win.

The one I know that got covid had a really mild case, just slight cold-like symptoms. The vaccinated person I really have to talk to to get more info. She’s young, no health issues whatsoever, and doesn’t have a medical or dealing with the public job. On top of that, local news says her county has the worst vaccination rate in the state. She got her first shot on Dec. 21, when I know for sure medical people were still being vaccinated.

My good friend and her husband tested positive but had hardly any symptoms. She said they were a little stuffed up and felt like they had a cold - not even a bad cold. They contracted it when her MIL came to live with them after being in a rest home/rehab after hip surgery. She also tested positive but luckily at 90+ years old she barely had any symptoms either. Those are the closest people to me that have had it. No one I know has received the vaccine.

The best part of that story is that the MIL was tested before she was to go home from the rest home. The facility sent her off before they had the results (which were positive)! So she brought it into my friend’s home.

At this moment the number is the same. My mother in law in a senior’s assisted living home has received the vaccine as has my grandaughter, an EMT/firefigher in Milwaukee. That same grandaughter had Covid some months back but fortunately the “Prince Charles variety”. However, I have a first cousin who died from Covid just after Christmas.
