Do you know people's addresses?

I was gonna say, “Yeah, compare how many email addresses you have memorized,” except I don’t know those either, they’re stored in my online address book. :smack:

Or phone numbers. I used to have phone numbers memorized because there was no way to send text messages directly from my phone’s address book; now all I have to do is select a name and the text message option is right there.

I don’t know any addresses either. The closest thing I could provide would be the nearest main intersection.

Besides my own, the only one I’m sure of is the (former) home of my best friend’s parents. When I first started filling out job applications as a kid, they were my default non-relative reference to put down, so even though they retired and moved away years ago, I still know that one.

Parents: no.

Sister: apartment block name and street name, and that’s only from wandering around trying to find it in the dark.

Other sister: not a chance, she’s moved about six times in two years.

Any other relatives: nope.

Work-related: one or two, but not including the postcode. One sticks in my mind well, but that’s because it’s number 69 and I’m childishly amused by that number :stuck_out_tongue:

Friends: no. I’d be able to give you directions, including ‘first house with the large steps’-type ways to find them once you’re on the right street.

Wow … I must have a great memory for addresses! I can remember every address I’ve ever lived at (except for my college mail box number), and off the top of my head, I can recite:

work address (plus previous three employers - I’ve had to give a lot of directions)
hubby’s work address
mom’s
brother’s
in-laws’
BIL and SIL
six friends’ addresses
dad’s previous address (he’s only been in the new place a couple of months - I’ve only been there once)
old family friends in Ohio (haven’t seen them in 10 years)

Now, I may not know the zip code for each of them, but the address itself is no problem for me. And I can tell you how to get there from just about any direction. Maps, addresses, directions - I’ve always been really good with them, even since I was a kid.

I know a lot of addresses, but most of those people have lived there for a long time. (I’m awful with directions and prefer to have street and landmarks in order to find a place.) Most of my family live in the same area, so if there is something I don’t know, it’s probably a house number. I used to have all of the phone numbers memorized as well, but if it’s changed since I’ve had a cell phone, I don’t know it anymore. Now I keep excel sheets of the info.

I know two friends’ addresses off by heart, one because it’s a bit unusual and the second because I’ve helped her fill out forms often enough (came in handy when I wanted flowers sent to her when she was ill last year). For others, I know the street or the suburb, but need to consult my address book for the fine details.
