On Jeopardy! today, one of the clues was “Ernie Bushmiller created this comic strip character seen here.”
To my surprise, not one of the contestants even attempted to come up with the correct question. I thought this character was widely known. Without Googling, how many of you recognize this character?
Of course, the character is Nancy.
I recognized her no problem. But I am older. 
I wouldn’t expect people under 40, or even 50, to be familiar with her. Why would they be?
I recognized it. I’m 38. That comic strip appeared in the Sunday paper until I was 10 or 15.
I knew it, but I’m old.
I wonder if anyone would have remembered Aunt Fritzi. I sure do.
OMG, of course. Nancy, Sluggo, Aunt Fritzi Ritz (who was quite the babe in her day), Rollo the rich kid, Irma, Poochie!

Why would they not? Although it’s not as popular today as it once was, it still runs in newspapers and is internationally popular. There have been Nancy comic books and animated cartoons. I would think most adults would be familiar with Nancy (and Sluggo).
I do. But then again, I’m old. (No, I’m not, dammit. I’m not old.)
And yeah, Aunt Fritzi is hawt.
