Does God hate the working man or something? Moon Pies is nasty, though my lovely wife disagrees. They’re nasty.

Last fall, I got a pack of pumpkin whoopie pies filled with cream cheese frosting.
Wow. Just wow.

Grew up in CT… we ALWAYS had them when we visited the family (Lowell, MA). Haven’t had one in years, and there’s no way I can get one down here in MD… damn you!
That whoopie looks like my idea of heaven. I don’t even have to understand it or know what’s in it to know I would love it.
Dang, $24 a dozen? I can’t take that kind of chance. Thems ain’t no Little Debbies, that’s for sure.
Do you like chocolate? Do you like frosting? If so, you might like Woopie Pies. I practically grew up on those things! I’m from Bangor area (about an hour north) Maine for the record. Looks like there are more Maine 'Dopers than I thought there were.
Just looking at those things make my teeth hurt and my pancreas twinge but after hearing they have pumpkin and cream cheese ones, I desperately want to try one. I ***LOVE ***pumpkin.
And even as a Southerner, moon pies are disgusting. Cardboard and caulk sandwiches taste better.
As someone who went to grad school in dear ol’ Orono, I do indeed know the wholesome goodness of the Whoopie Pie. Though as a native I Western PA, I knew them as gobs before I knew them as whoopie pies.
As yet another memeber from Amishland, I have to add my two cents. When EVE mentioned moon pies, my first thought was this pastry , not the awful commercial snack. My mom used to make these, and they were quite delicious, like a mini apple pie.
