Do you like bread pudding?

Me, I love it, but so rarely have or find it.

It’s a funny thing, because wet bread makes my gorge rise. E.g., seeing a slice of waterlogged bread in a sink repulses me. But I love bread pudding.

It’s easy to make, and since I always seem to have some slightly stale homemade bread hanging around with plenty of eggs, cinnamon and milk, I have it regularly. Yes to raisins or other dried fruit, sometimes a bit of orange or lemon zest grated in, maple syrup over is particularly decadent.

Love love love bread pudding, probably my favorite dessert. Especially with bourbon or rum cooked in and ice cream on the side.

Never had it.

No option to vote for “It depends”?

I’ve found that bread pudding varies quite a bit. Sometimes it’s sublime. Other times it’s not even worth finishing the serving.

I like sweet bread pudding, though I haven’t had it in a long time. I do make savory bread pudding pretty often, though. My kids like it, and it’s a good way to use up stale bread. Mark Bittman has a lot of suggestions for savory bread puddings, and I usually make one about once a month or so.

I did a junior year abroad at a college in Cambridge UK. The cafeteria made a nice sweet bread pudding with gooseberry sauce. Yum!

It puts weight on me like nothing else, or I’d make it once a week. Love it.

I love it.

I think that good bread pudding is literally the best dessert in the world bar none. I used to work in a hotel that made a great one with bourbon sauce. We used to serve it at black-tie events. That shit was awesome. I have no idea why it isn’t more common. It isn’t especially hard to make.

Love love love it. One of my favorite desserts, which I don’t get as often as I should.

I love it. One of my favorite versions has chocolate chips and some chocolate sauce drizzled on it. Mmmmmm.

I like some of the savory ones too.

Can we claim french toast as a one layer bread pudding? :stuck_out_tongue:

It/s wonderful if made with real bread. American White Bread need not apply.

I’ve had it a few times for dessert in the UK. It’s okay, but I’ve never tried to make it at home.

Nope.

Then again I’ve never been a custard fan.

I love it (rice pudding also).

The last time I made it I started out baking a loaf of farmhouse bread. I purposely let it sit for a few days, then made French toast for breakfast and bread pudding for that evenning’s dessert.

whore

Yes, if the price is right.

Just make your own it’s really easy.

Let some bread go stale.
Then cover and soak in water.
Sprinkle cinnamon on top.

Eat.

I like it. I don’t eat it very often but every so often my wife makes it.

I love rice pudding more than bread pudding, but under no normal circumstances* would I say “no” to either.

I approve of your bread selection and techniques. Pretty much the same thing you would do with a good French Toast, just more custard. Mmmm… more custard.

*abnormal circumstance: I saw you pick it up off the barn floor. You made it with spoiled milk or rotten eggs. I suspect you’re tying to poison me. That kind of thing.
