I like the black leggings with oversized top look. Nothin’ wrong with 1988 in my book. I’m going for a comfy around the house or run to the store look, not especially trying to light any fires. Opaque tights are a good look with some skirts, and they actually last for multiple wearings, unlike sheer hose IME.
I have seen some capri-length tights/leggings and am not a fan of that look. They seem to end at an unflattering place on the calf.
Do you mean stockings? Because otherwise, I can’t picture it 
I hate both leggings and tights unless said leggings are being used for working out. Then they’re useful for preventing chafing during long runs. On the whole, though, I’ve never been able to pull either off without looking ridiculous. On others, they’re sometimes ok. On me, it’s stockings or no hosiery at all.
I love leggings, particularly in the winter cause I walk a lot. And they are the only thing to wear under high boots.
