Not those wrinkly necks on turtles, but the sweaters with the cloth in the neck area that goes up high, often folding over. I think they look better on some people than on others. I like soft silk ones, nothing tight around my neck.
I have no neck. I think turtlenecks are restrictive and attempting to kill me.
But then I feel the same way about my children.
I wear them when I snow ski. Great for keeping drafty winds and snow from going down the back of your neck.
Love them. Big chest here so it hides the ladies well.
Very nice, but far too warm here to be of any use.
Feels like you’re being strangled by a really weak guy – all day long.
I like them, as long as they’re not too tight. I have a sweater my sister bought me at Express last winter, and it has this huge floppy neck that covers my face up to my eyes if I don’t fold it over - it’s perfect.
I love them as long as they’re fitted and not too scratchy on my neck.
I’ll second this, and add that indoors it is too darn hot to wear them!
I second that! That’s friggin’ hilarious!!!
cankerist funny!!!
I, however, love them. The turtleneck season is just starting and I will be living in them for the next 3 months (great white north). In fact, I am wearing one for the first time this season. I prefer the strangling feeling over the floppy gaping neck that lets wind whistle down your back. If the neck isn’t tight, then what’s the point?
I think women look wonderful in them as well. Man, when Sinead came out with “Nothing Compares 2 U” and was wearing one, I couldn’t get enough of that image (until the song became overplayed and really grating).
I love the strangled-by-a-weak-guy ones, but I hate the gigantic 1970s Loni Anderson style cowl necks. Not only do they bug me, but they bug everyone else I know. Especially lately, any time I unfold a sweater at a store it has this dumb miniskirt attached to the neck.
I like a regular black turtleneck with jeans though and I’ve always worn that a lot in winter. My brother informs me that it makes me look more like a longshoreman than a sophisticate but screw him anyway.
Hate them!!!
I’m wearing one today, in fact, with a min-skirt and knee-high boots. I like the sexy secretary look.
Depends on the legnth of your neck.
I think women pull them off better then men, especially bald men.
My boss (who is bald) wore a big red one last winter all the time. When he gets mad, veins on his head pop out, this making him look like a giant __________
I like them for me. I don’t like them on men.
Love them, if they’re cotton/poly. Wool is too itchy. Great on their own or as a layering piece.
Turtlenecks ok,
Dickies bad.
My aunt bought each of us a 10 pack of dickies for christmas one year. I handed them out to friends as a joke.
Jenny, how YOU doin’?
Doin’ just fine, cantara, how YOU doin’?
