What won't you wear?

Everyone has some style, brand, colour or “look” that they won’t wear. Either it’s deeply unflattering, ethically unsound or you just don’t like it.

Mine are the following:
Real fur
Feels nice, but yucky when you think about it for any period of time.

Coulottes/gaucho pants/clam diggers etc
I’m short, my legs need every inch I can give them.

The colour orange
Not a good look with sallow skin.

And finally

Ethnic clothing
I’m racially ambiguous enough to look like I actually am Indian/Chinese/Romany when wearing the appropriate clothing. Which would be fine if I was of whichever ethnicity and could take pride in my heritage and culture, but since I’m not, I don’t see why I should make my life more difficult. I can live much more happily without racist insults.

High heels – life is way too short to wear uncomfortable shoes.

Yellow, orange, most shades of green – I’m with you on that sallow skin thing.

Tight sweaters – yes, I have large breasts; if that is of interest to you, you’ll figure it out all by yourself.

Horizonal stripes. I’m big enough without them.

The color pink. Some redheads can get away with it; I’m not one of them.

Skirts and dresses. But if someone came up with period costume, I’d wear them.

Handkerchief hemlines - eeeeew.

Gaucho pants - eeeeew to the 10th power.

Turbans - ethnic or fashion. They just blow.

Flats - is there anything more unflattering to the female leg?

Tube tops or strapless dresses - I will re-think this when they come up with a strapless bra that actually works on breasts that are bigger than an A cup.

Shrug Sweaters I’m pretty large in the front, and I imagine if I wore one, it would look like a boob cozy as opposed to a sweater. Picture here

Navy blue My skin picks up blue tones, I look bruised.

No plaid.

No checks.

No paisley.

No wide neckties.

No pink.

No yellow.

No orange.

No bright colors of any shade…

No tight pants.

No tee-shirts sporting a company logo.

No hats sporting a company logo.

Women’s clothing.

Big plaids

Baseball caps - Besides which, who decided that the bill has to be bent like that?

Tight underwear - Gotta have some breathing room.

Tight shirts - See above

Speedos - Just no.

I’m here to tell you that they don’t work on A cups, either. The only time I ever wore a strapless anything that didn’t feel like it was going to slide down was when I wore a long-line strapless bra under my wedding dress. Since it sat on my hips it wasn’t going anywhere, but ugh, not comfortable. Not something I exactly want to pursue as everyday wear. So no strapless or spaghetti strap stuff for me.

Capri pants also suck.

Anything tight.
Anything short.
Anything skimpy.
Anything that leaves my stomach or butt showing.
Anything that leaves my undies showing.

Capri pants VERY suck. Although I will indulge the Laura Petrie style on perfectly shaped women with perfect legs. I believe there are about seven women in the US that fit the description.

  • No beige

  • No blue of any kind. I love certains shades but none suit me. Moreover, absolutely no navy. I really hate navy.

  • Nothing generally unflattering. This covers to wide a range to go into detail

  • No chenille and definetely no fleece

  • No thongs.

I don’t do turtlenecks. Always hated 'em. I don’t like the way they look and I don’t like the way they feel.

I don’t do ruffles. Nuh uh. Forget it.

And I sure as hell don’t do capris. Gee, look, it’s a flashback of every pair of too-short pants I ever had in my young life, come back to taunt me with how miserably uncool I was. No thanks.

White T-shirts, plain or with with logos or illustrations on them.

T-shirts of any kind unless they are worn under a collared shirt.

Horizontal stripes.

Trousers with pleats.

Any kind of underwear other than boxers.

Hate thongs. Foot thongs, that is.

Pantyhose=torture device

Never.

Flower print pants or anything by Lilly Pulitzer.

Baseball caps. Just say no, kids.

High heels.

Short skirts.

Paisley.

Thong underwear.

Black. (I have 2 mostly white Papillon dogs that shed. 'Nuff said.)

Plain white T shirts.

Fur.
