Do you live near a liquified natural gas terminal?

I live in northeast Maine, a beautiful area. We have deep-water ports that have attracted three competing LNG companies. Most of the people in this area are against having these terminals here, citing the gargantuan ships that will come through our peaceful bay almost every day to unload. This will disrupt the fishermen who make their living from the sea. In addition, the tanks are just plain butt ugly, and will off the night sky forever with their 24/7 bright lights.

This is my dilemma: When I had to buy oil this year it was of course horrendously expensive, and I’m retired. I’m even having a hard time getting wood, which of course is in greater demand and more expensive because of the oil prices. One of the things that the LNG promised was free or inexpensive gas, at least to the Passamoquodys, who agreed to locate a terminal on their land. So of course I’m wondering (since this particular company has been sneaky and secretive and has already reneged on some promises) if nearby communities would get natural gas cheaper. How much of the cost is the transport of the gas through the pipeline?

But, the only way I know to find out is to ask people who live near such a terminal. Has this been a boon to you re: the price of natural gas? So, anyone out there?
