For me, the answer is yes. I’m in contact with friends in the UK and Canada every single day. Most of my friends are travel addicts like I am, so I’ve texted two of my UK friends today, one visiting Australia, the other in Japan.
So, yes, for me. I have another friend in Japan, originally from Indonesia, but we FaceTime maybe once a month.
I have family back in the States. I have friends in Japan, the US and other countries, and I now live in Taiwan.
I’m chatting online with a friend from Thailand now.
I have military friends and other non-military friends around the world. We chat at least once a day via WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. I don’t ever Facetime or video call with anyone.
Does it count if it’s for work? My company is split between the US and the UK and we frequently use Slack to talk back and forth.
It’s not ALWAYS about work so I think it counts in this situation?
Only when my kids were studying abroad. I used to know people in other countries, but I can’t think of anyone outside of the US I currently know well enough to have a reason to communicate with.
Not every day, but several times per week, for work. Germany, China, India, Australia, mostly. Sometimes all at once, which is a challenge to schedule.
