Do you run up stairs?

Another runner here.

I used to work near Chalk Farm station in London and there are just enough steps that you need good technique to run the whole thing without slowing down (there’s an elevator too, but you have to queue for that). Only fun part of my commute.

But yeah, in general I always run up stairs. Not quite sure why.

I don’t consider it running, but it probably looks like I am. I’m tall, and stairs are designed for short people, so I take them two at a time. Increasing my inertia is only natural.

And I also walk on escalators (and moving sidewalks). I’m not sure if people that don’t walk are lazy or clueless. If you can’t walk up the escalator, then take the elevator. If you can’t walk on the moving sidewalk, then call the old-people-cripple-cart for a ride to your next gate.

I have been unable to run anywhere for about a decade, since an injury in a car accident. I had enough physical therapy to be able to walk mostly normally without a discernable limp or pain most of the time, but my doctor said not to engage in any high-impact activities and specifically said “no running.”

Not, run, really but I do try to go at the same pace I walk, which means I have to go at a pace closer to jogging. Other people just seem to keep their same walking pace, and thus go slower.

Running goes against my religion (actually, I just run like shit and know it), so no. I do walk up escalators if there’s room for it (won’t jog people; take into account that the place where I’m most likely to be on an escalator is train stations and airports, where everybody has luggage).
