It could be worse - we could be having the same conversation about Michelle Trachtenberg, who looks even younger than Ellen Page but is a year older.
You probably wouldn’t like it.
On Firefly, Summer Glau was playing a young character but she’s actually a year older than Jewel Staite, who played an adult character on the show. And Glau was playing a high-school age character in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles at the age of twenty-eight.
Actually, she was playing a robotic killing machine who pretended to be a high schooler, in Terminator: TSCC.
Not quite. Glau was playing a Terminator that was modeled after a 21-year old women, who looked slightly older because she lived in the time after Judgment Day. She was able to pass as a high schooler in the first episode because she was programmed with all the mannerisms of a typical high schooler.
In later episodes she goes undercover as a mid-20s factory worker and a college student.
Using Glau’s hard-to-pin-down looks in true Terminator infiltrator-style was one of the cleverest things the writers of TSCC did.
She’s one I’m always torn about as well. I think she’s very attractive but I still think of her on Buffy.
I didn’t know who Ellen Page was until I read this thread and googled her. She seems to be an adult and I have never seen a movie she was in, so yea, as someone with no preconceptions, Ellen Page is an adult.
Just out of curiosity, why do you think so? I did want to see it when it was in the theater but I never made it. I know the basic plot, girl turns tables on pedophile, though no details.
OP, I don’t understand the angst. You either find her attractive or you don’t, and you know whether you’re a perv or not.
Anyway, “Teen-age” covers a range from downright skeevy to OK, IMO, and Page’s roles have been either side of that line. Granted, I’ve only seen Page in Juno and X-Men, but there wouldn’t be anything wrong with putting her on such a list just based on *those *roles. If it was just her role in Hard Candy that attracted you, *then *you might have cause for more introspection.
But then I live in a country with saner AoC laws, plus I’ve found Anna Paquin hovering at the bottom of my virtual list since the first X-Men movie, and Michelle Williams since the start of Dawson’s Creek, so I may be biased.
Nothing wrong with that. I was skeeved out years later when I realized that the hot runaway from HurlyBurly was a 16 year old Anna Paquin, possibly only 15 during filming. Oy.
Still not as bad as Kiera Knightley in The Hole. I’d really rather the cute chick nude scenes not involve 15 year olds.
Well, yes. She’s 23. Matter resolved.
I see her as an “old soul” in the body of a girl on the cusp of womanhood (i.e. 18-20). Sort of like Rory Gilmore. I also see her as a miniature Jeanine Garafalo. FWIW.
No, but the majority of time I’ve seen her on screen was on ReGenesis, and that’s dated 2004, so she would have been around 17.
I find her neither teen or adult but rather plastic and forgettable. I seem to like her movies despite her presence rather than because of it. I can’t even picture what she looks like.
It’s odd. I assumed she was an adult back in Juno, but I saw her October appearance on Ellen’s show (video) and I really, really thought she was a kid. It took me a bit to even make the connection.
Granted, when I say kid, I’m thinking about 17 or 18 or so. Old enough that I don’t feel skeevy being attracted to her, but young enough that she could go to my high school and be mistaken for a freshman (like my sister can as a senior at age 21).
ETA: Then again, my opinion may not be worth much. I thought the same of Nicole de Boer as Ezri Dax on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
When I first saw this thread a few days ago, I thought “no, she’s a kid…and I don’t know why you’d even find her that attractive.”
Then I saw her just now in a Cisco ad while watching 24, and Yowsa…yeah, she’s an adult. And a hottie.
I’m 48. I was in a bar over the weekend and realized that everyone under the age of 25 looks like a kid to me. But yes, she is and adult.
I not only think of her as an adult, I think of her in very “adult” ways. Have you seen her new commercials? No way that woman is a teenybopper any more.
Yeah, it was after those Cisco commercials that I decided I wanted to add her to my list.
Per the thinking man’s crumpet thread, I would totally put one of these on my keychain.
