I first saw this young lady in Hard Candy and boy did she make an impression.
Last night I watched her in Juno and again I was amazed at how talented she is.
If you’ve not seen either of these two films I urge you to do so

I agree - Page is a good actress who I imagine will only get better with age. She seems to be good at picking roles too (although if you blinked you missed her in the X-men movies). I didn’t get to see that one she was in with Sarah Jessica Parker but I probably will eventually, I didn’t hear anything about it which suggests it’s probably not all that good.
I love Ellen Page but I really didn’t like Smart People (the one with SJP). It’s very depressing for a so-called comedy. They should have called it Unhappy People.
I expect her to be written off as a one-hit wonder eventually.
She came across like a decent high school drama club kid in Hard Candy.
The role of Juno was indubitably entertaining, but it was kind of one-note, and not very deep.
I’d much more expect her to pull off something like playing Kumar’s girlfriend than remaining in the discussion with Cate Blanchett and Laura Linney.
Hard Candy blew me away when I saw it. One of my friends is one of those people who will rent pretty much everything at Blockbuster, and he told me to see it over a year ago. I had no idea who Ellen Page was, but damn. Juno is a really neat movie too.
Did anyone see her movie An American Crime? I’d read the story behind it on one of those crime websites (it’s really messed up!) and saw the movie on IMDB but never heard a peep about it anywhere else.
I was shown on Showtime a month or so ago. There was a discussion of it here about how no one really wanted to see that, and I don’t think anyone ever did.
She was amazing in Juno. Hard Candy and Smart People are on my netflix so I’ll see those pretty soon too. I was really surprised because I didn’t think she was that great because she was so average in teh X3. However, there wasn’t much to work with there.
Juno = Napoleon Dynamite: The Chick Flick. What an overpolished turd.
The Tracey Fragments = unwatchable.
You = correct.
I’ve met her a couple times and she’s a very nice girl, but in terms of acting the jury is out for me. I expect we’ll get a pretty good idea of her talent when we finally see her as Jane Eyre
After seeing Juno, I thought it was Hard Candy II. Same character.
Ellen Page could read the phone book for two hours, and I’d watch.
She wouldn’t even have to read it out loud.
I thought she was a cute young lady - until I saw her being interviewed. She’s so unbelievably vapid and annoying I can’t even look at her anymore. Every answer she gave had to be witty, or quirky, or funny in some way, except they weren’t. It was very uncomfortable to watch.
I kinda figured I wouldn’t like Juno anyway, and that just confirmed it. You couldn’t strap me down to watch that movie at this point.

Wow, double post. Haven’t seen that here in a long time. No idea how it happened.
It’s a glitch in the Matrix. Better bug out.
Did it look like the same post, or was it the same post??
Do psychotic stalkers of pedophiles often remind you of quirky, unwed, pregnant teens?
Only when portrayed by one-note actors.
Speaking of one-note actors in relation to Ellen Page . . . Michael Cera sure has been a disappointment. I thought he had created a brilliant role on Arrested Development, until I saw him in a few other things and realized that’s not a role. That’s him.
Agreed. Ellen Page as a person is someone I would strangle if I had to be around for any extended length of time.
But then, I really enjoyed Juno, so I guess Ellen Page the actress is OK with me.
