She was impressive in Hard Candy, but I didn’t much like the movie; it felt like it was voyeuristically getting off on what it was pretending to indict.
She was impressive in Juno, but her vocal idiosyncracies were starting to grate on me. And the sheer artificiality of that character, while entertainingly portrayed, was part of what I didn’t like about* Napoleon Dynamite: The Chick Flick Version.*
*The Tracy Fragments *was unwatchable, but still she seemed to be giving it a lot of energy.
I just watched An American Crime. It’s an exaggeration to say I wished the torture was real, but not to say that my sympathy for the character was compromised by my growing dislike of this actress.
I’m not sure I get it. She’s obviously a talented, if maybe a limited, actor. It may be saturation, but I don’t feel the same about Amy Adams, who’s received similar exposure since her nomination for Junebug. Anyone else over Ellen Page? If so, any theories as to why she evokes this response?
