Do you think the media has an obsession with portraying men of color overly masculine?

It’s probably a good thing that you’re bringing up these topics here and not in an office or social setting. I think you’d seriously creep people out. I mean, who walks around trying to decide which men are “more masculine”?

Agreed, I remembered 227 but did not want to seem like I was trying to go overboard. I had completely forgotten about Amen.

I am sure it would be appropiate for college campuses now given the rise of identity politics.
Ok, the point I am trying to make is all the bitching and whining going on about “masculinity”, the thing is in particular is just targeted at white men. Why don’t I see more shaming on other races of men?
And before I continue, everytime I bring this topic up, a lot of people try to play dumb with me right away.
Yes, I am all for empowering people of color, but that doesn’t mean you have to promote them as criminals, grossly obsessed bodybuilders and try to enforce them to be tough. Men of color in particular of course.

Tell me: What role does the Jim Crow era play in here?

I’ve not seen this “bitching and whining.” Maybe it’s a Facebook thing.

(raising hand)

Yeah I will give you that it is more of an internet thing.
What’s the “raising hand” supposed to mean?

Can you actually post any examples of “the media” doing this?

Maybe it would be helpful if you defined what you think “the media” is.

You are confusing hypermasculinity with toxic masculinity.

The main difference is the the hypermasculine are not pathetic little maggots trying to pay-act as “alphas” to trick women into having sex with them.

It gets worse when the unfortunate losers start to believe their gurus and then blame the women for responding like individual humans and not as sex vending machines.

See, exactly what i expected.
Maybe I will link this article to mysogny in rap

And misogyny is a different concept than hypermasculinity or toxic masculinity.

Lol.

Thank you for your contribution.

Sure thing buddy.

Please take the middle finger as a joke?

Lol, how did you find my Neoseeker page?

You go by the same username and you have a thread about The Straight Dope.

Jesus, I went to neoseekers. wtf? I’ve never appreciated the SDMB more.

If TV creates racial stereotypes, Americans should assume that most black men are doctors, lawyers, cops or President of the USA.

They are increasingly common.

Maybe watching this video will give you more of an idea for those who are apperantly so clueless

But the funny thing is even when I want to see a general topic of hypermasculinity, black men are still always the most used, included and brought up.

And how does that make you feel?..
