How about this one? I’m terrible at judging whether a photo has been Photoshopped.
Yeah thats what I was thinking. Its potentially hurtful. How do we know that one of these celebs doesn’t read these forums…
The young black girl with the short hair looks lovely and toned. The other are a bit puffy for me. I love a toned body, but some of those are a bit much.
But whatever floats your boat…
Madonna has based her career just as much on her appearance as on her singing and dancing abilities. I definitely think she’s fair game. Me, I’ve never tagged much of my sense of identity or self-worth on what I look like, and what I look like is irrelevant to my profession – so dredging up a picture of me for the sole purpose of snarking on it would be both unkind and unfair. Snarking on Madonna – unkind, perhaps, but not at all unfair.
There’s no perhaps about it and apparently, that’s where we part ways. I see unkindness as reason enough not to. I don’t try to rationalize my mocking.
You’re a better man than I, Gunga Din.
I’m with you. I just do not see the need. I’ve never been much on cattiness though.
Just out of curiosity, when the hell did people start calling Madonna “Madge”?
In any case, that picture of her looks ridiculously Photoshopped to me.
I’ll just add this about Jocelyn Wildenstein - I happened to walk past her once about four years ago. It was late at night, and I was walking down 3rd Ave (upper east side, Manhattan) and there she went strolling by me. She was…unmistakeable.
My first thought (aside from 'Wow! That’s the tabloid cat-lady!) was surprise that someone as rich as her would walk anywhere. Beautiful fall night or no, I would’a thunk she’d get a chauffeur driven limo to go anywhere.
My second thought was “OMG! Look at her arm candy!” as she was arm-in-arm with one of the most smokin’ hot guys I have ever laid eyes on. Put it this way, he was so good looking, he made me stop looking at Jocelyn Wildenstein in the flesh.
We can make whatever judgement we want about her appearance, she ain’t hurting for lovin’.
Believe it or not, I also walked by Madonna once on the street as well. But my mind was apparently elsewhere that day and I did not realize it was her until she had already walked by. All I could tell about her is that she’s really short.
I never passed by Courtney Love on the street.
A good rule of thumb is that if a picture of a celebrity is released via any official avenue (publicist, magazine [other than tabloid], official website, etc), it’s photoshopped.
Let’s just hope some of you never find Go Fug Yourself. (Which is a shame, that site is GOLD.)
Go Fug Yourself’s focus is on the clothing and they are open to discussion on the fugliness of an outfit as evidenced by their frequent polls. If they were sitting around with intern George making fun of nothing but the physical characteristics of the celebrities then I think the comparison is valid. I haven’t been there in a while but I recall them often pointedly not criticizing the celebrity, only their choice in clothing.
I met Courtney Love once, when she was definitely not at her best. She didn’t look terrible, and was a damned nice girl to boot, at least to me. Oddly, though, she would talk about herself as if people wouldn’t know who she was (this band I’m in, lost my husband, etc), as if any of us couldn’t cite at least two tabloid hackjobs on her in a minute. She was nice, if also very run down by the life she leads.
