Do you unpack zip files before copying to cloud storage?

I buy guitar lessons that come in zip files.

I briefly went through a period where I unpacked them on my computer and uploaded the folder.

Since switching to my phone, I just upload the zip with Drive to google. It takes a lot of space to unpack zip files. You download 3Gig and unpack. That is 6 gig on your phone until you upload to the cloud. I’ve gotten lazy and just copy the zip file and delete from my phone. Storage is such a PITA on phones.

That’s created a headache because Folders get grouped and sorted separately from zip files. It’s harder to look through the names for a lesson I want.

Whats your approach? A zip file can get corrupted and you lose the contents. Files in a folder are separate. One file could be corrupted and the rest ok.

We used par files on computers to recover files. I’ve never found a full featured Android par App. Par files also use up a lot of space. IIRC it eas 15%. 150MB for a Gig file.

Am I too paranoid? I used to also use the check feature on a copy command. It did a checksum to confirm the copy. We don’t have that option copying to cloud storage.

Also is Google drive must slower than other cloud drives? Just opening a folder and seeing the thumbnails takes 20 seconds. Opening a zip file can take 45sec. Just to see the damn thumbnails.
