Well, technically…
From here:
“He also received an honorary degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where an endowment for Appalachian Studies is in his name, and he also received an honorary doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.”
Oh no! I’ve seen him perform numerous times, both with Merle and alone. He was phenomenal!
This song is among my top 5 all time favorites.
R.I.P.
I had the great fortune to see him live, at a very small venue in Cambridge when I was in college. Had been a fan for a long time, and really enjoyed the show.
RIP. You will be missed.
Damn, that man could pick a guitar.
Got some of his vinyls from a long time ago. Been a fan for years, and will bring out one or two to play tonight.
I have no doubt he was brought home for a special festival. Goodbye, Doc.
I had the opportunity to meet him at a small festival in East Tennessee a few years back. He was a gentleman to the nth degree. And I agree, he could flat out pick the guitar!
