Well, she’s a starring role, and her only scene in the trailer is wearing scrubs and bending over someone on a gurney, so I assumed Night Nurse.
I didn’t realize Dawson was even in the MCU until I just looked her up on imdb. One thing the MCU has been careful to do is not have the movies depend on the TV shows in any way. I suspect they wouldn’t build up someone’s background on one of the shows and then introduce them in a movie, but I could be wrong.
The three seasons on Netflix ( 2 Daredevil, 1 Jessica Jones) only allude to the battle in New York once or twice and don’t really mention anything in the movies. Agents of Shield are effected by the movies a lot more.
Nor was I…when I first watched, I immediately thought that she was Moondragon before realizing she is the Ancient One. I almost wish it was actually going to be Moondragon…IMO, it would have been quite neat to give MCU Strange’s magick ties to all that is cosmic. But I am looking very, VERY forward to this movie…my personal most anticipated one of the year.
Heard a rumor that they rejiggered the origin a bit so Strange and Mordo are friends (or at least allies) rather than enemies, and there’s another big bad. Not sure if it’s true, though.
Which means it’ll also be a 12 Years a Slave reunion–especially if you add Magneto and Rhino into the mix, too (plus, Alfre Woodard is in the cast list of CA:CW).
So the Old One is now a woman? I guess that might have been predicted. This does not look promising. Benedict Cumberbatch just doesn’t convince as Dr Strange. I still remember the spell cast on me by the wonderful Lee/Ditko Dr Strange. The trailer has nothing at all of that magical aura. Fortunately I’m not disappointed as I expected the movie wouldn’t live up to the comic. I guess the actual film could still surprise me but after this teaser I rather doubt it.
I trust Marvel. I thought I was going to hate Guardians of the Galaxy, be meh about Ant Man, and despise Deadpool. I loved GotG, liked Ant Man, and actually thought Deadpool was decent.
I adore Doctor Strange, and have since the eighties. I trust Marvel to do the movie justice. (But then, I was never a huge fan of the psychedelic Ditko era–I preferred the later stories. So this one might be right up my alley.)
Yeah, but that report was 2 years old. Lots can change in that amount of time. For Doctor Strange they just about have to do at least a bit of an origin story. His arc and powers represent a completely different aspect of the Marvel Universe
Well Mordo started off as a student with Strange of the Ancient One. I have a feeling that he is going to start off as friend then become a bad guy. That’s just my own speculation not a spoiler from anywhere. Mads Mikkelsen is listed in IMDB but there has been no word who he is playing. I’m assuming the villain because who else would he be?
Looking at Baron Mordo’s history there is one name that pops out that could be Mads Mikkelsen.
The demon Dormammu. He has been a Big Bad for Doctor Strange since the early 60s and is associated with Mordo. The only thing that works against using him as the big villain is he isn’t known to anyone who didn’t read DS.
There aren’t a lot of Doctor Strange villains that are known to anyone who didn’t read DS. Dormammu would be a good choice, however they’d be wasting a well-known actor if they make him play a guy whose head is on fire. I’d love to see him as Mephisto…
The origin story could be done in flashback.
Remember, Strange was already on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar as of the time of Winter Soldier. Why would he have been a person of note if he hadn’t already had his origin events?
