Doctor Who "Dark Water" and "Death in Heaven" (spoilers after it airs)

Right - it had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the keys were needed and had much more to do with the fact that Clara believed their importance as well as how far she was willing to take it.

I loved (and laughed) at the play on the Doctor, who? bit.

and I really don’t know what to think about the mistriss/master thing - this is where they traditionally make it way to complicated.

I think that every time it makes the noise. Still

Ditto.
Just thought of something unfortunate. Remember when we were looking for a pattern in the people that ended up in “Heaven” earlier in the season? Now that we know what the Nethersphere is… it makes even less sense.

Victorian Cyborg guy - not even human. Would his body be worth converting to a cyberman? Also, Missy’s been doing this for centuries?

Soldier woman inside the Dalek - ok, she’s in the future, so Missy’s time-traveling too? (not just doing this for centuries, it seems) How? does she have a Tardis? Also, her body was microscopic at that point, so did she become a teeny tiny cyberman? The cybermen were released into what appeared to be our present. So was Missy gathering people who died in ALL TIME, in order to release them… now? why now?

Police Officer guy killed by the Skovax, and now, Danny, and perhaps the kid he killed in Afghanistan(Iraq?) (unless the kid was just a ploy to break Danny down). These would be the ones that make the most sense, I suppose, depending on how long the kid’s been dead. (do kids become full-size cybermen?)

(Also, why were the robots of Sherwood headed to The Promised Land if it was a vitual place?)

This doesn’t diminish my enjoyment of the episode, just makes me like the prior appearances of Missy even less.

Yeah, exactly. This is the man - well, Time Lord - who spotted the alien spooky in a weight-loss company and a high school. You’d think he’d be all over a funeral home company that offered post-mortem conversations with their customers.

So that huge array of sarcophagi that Missy amassed - the* Tomb Of The Cybermen* callback - was somehow shoehorned into St. Paul’s? I ain’t buying it. I suspect Clara and the Doctor somehow managed to land in Missy’s TARDIS.

That just reminded me of the arty editing to simulate time moving in in Donna’s heaven/afterlife

“Aware that time seems to be skipping in the simulation…”

Why do we have this spoiler rule, anyway? Can’t people who haven’t seen the episode just, you know, not read the thread about the episode yet? Just like everyone does with every other show?

I suspect Stephen Moffat just doesn’t give a fuck.

If you didn’t get to see it, here is Peter Capaldi’s video(as the Doctor) to a young boy to comfort him with his nanny’s death. It’s quite cute.

Nice to know you are on our side.
The thread discussing the first episode of this season (series) was started by Jragon, who stipulated “Boxed spoilers until it finishes airing on the US West [Coast].” See: Doctor Who Revival S8E1 -- Deep Breath (boxed spoilers until it airs on the West Coast) - Cafe Society - Straight Dope Message Board. Subsequent threads have included that stipulation.

Why do it? The threads are typically started a day or two before each episodes’ airdate, thus acting as a kind of a place holder so folks know where to post after they’ve seen the episode. Some people want to see the episode without knowing anything about it; some folks want to know everything they can about the episode before seeing it. I guess it comes down to “what has been seen cannot be unseen” so we’ve opted to go spoiler-free for these threads. (FWIW, I read the “released” scripts and watched the pre-air screeners before this series started and this in no way diminished my enjoyment of each show as it aired officially.)

Why is no one discussing THAT KISS?!? When Missy told the Doctor she was the Master/Mistress, I recalled that mouth mauling she gave Twelve and threw up a little in my mouth. ugh! ugh! ugh!

Just saw “Death in Heaven.”

It’s not spoiling anything to say that this was the best Doctor Who episode since “Blink.” Really. Absolutely amazing.

I liked Capaldi and Gomez’s acting, and there were moments of genius, which I’ll no doubt post in spoiler box’s later, but overall - oh no it wasn’t. YMMV

It was great to see Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart again, and fitting that the Doctor saluted him.

Yes, I haven’t been a big fan of this series, but that bit made me weep.

“Never trust a hug. It’s just a way to hide your face.”

So, lemme see if I have this right:The Doctor is back on Gallifrey, Clara and Danny are back together, The Master is finally gone for good, and that’s the end of Doctor Who forever. All wrapped up with a bow delivered by Nick Frost as Santa. Right?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Did they really just kill off Osgood, after getting our hopes up that she might join the Doctor? WHHYYYYYYYYYYY???
Did Cyber-Brig kill Missy? If so, how?
BBC confirms Jenna Coleman will be in 2014 Christmas special.
Speaking of Coleman, anyone notice she got top billing in the opening credits?

I thought it was OK. Not great, certainly not blown away in amazement, but it was good.
It feels like even they didn’t know if Clara would continue. They kind of dropped her off…and left it open to the future. I hope she returns.
She’s coming back in the Christmas Special, but we don’t know in what capacity.

Since it already aired in the US west coast, and I believe we’re the last to see it, I won’t be using spoilers.

One thing I don’t understand. The Doctor puts in the coordinates and sees nothing. Uhm, I thought Gallifrey was in another universe. Unless part of the coordinates was the universe it’s in then it’s still possible that Missy wasn’t lying.

The Master literally set up humanity to have a false belief in the afterlife, in order to make an army of cybermen for the Doctor as a birthday present… basically just to fuck with him and his sense of morality. I’ll buy that she lied about Gallifrey.

Also, Gomez’s Master is basically my favorite character in the series right now.
