Doctor Who’s next series is premiering in a few days. We did weekly threads last year so I figured we may as well continue.
This years’ Series is a bit odd; if you’ve seen the news and titles, it’s almost entirely 2-parters (this from showrunner Steven “any story worth telling can be told in one episode” Moffat). So I figure we might try to rock this like this was classic who and treat everything by story rather than episode, but we can revise this if it ends up being a mess after the first story.
That said, this Series has some pretty kickin episode titles, especially the finale titles (only spoilers in the next box are episode titles):
9x01 The Magician’s Apprentice
9x02 The Witch’s Familiar
9x03 Under the Lake
9x04 Before the Flood
9x05 The Girl Who Died
9x06 The Woman Who Lived
9x07 The Zygon Invasion
9x08 The Zygon Inversion
9x09 Sleep No More
9x10 Face the Raven
9x11 Heaven Sent
9x12 Hell Bent
“The Girl Who Died”? Really? Moffat has to run out of “The Girl who” or “the <x> Girl” at some point, right?
Rules:
Open spoilers as soon as the episode airs in the UK. The second something happens on a TV screen in The Queen’s Own Time Zone it’s fair game, but any pre-release info or rumors, excepting content in official trailers and previews, must be tagged.
Last year the rule was when it aired on BBC America on the US West Coast, but it ended up being slightly confusing and most people just avoided the thread until they saw the episode anyway. So on the day the episode is slated to come out, don’t open the thread until you’ve seen it!
It will be interesting if each part 1 episode ends with Dr. Who and Clara tied up and suspended over an overly elaborate murder device and the villain conveniently stepped out.
Stay tuned kids! We’ll be showing the conclusion next week! Same Who time! Same Who channel!
I mean, at the end of this series she’ll be tied with Amy for longest-running revival companion. She’s my fav and has excellent chemistry with Capaldi, but it’s not at all surprising if she’s leaving. I’m not trusting anything until it’s official, though.
By the way, I’m reserving judgment until I see it, but just to froth classic Who fans into a rage, apparently one of the plots this season is likely
A timey-wimey rewrite of Genesis of the Daleks. (Let me remind you that Genesis of the Daleks was itself a timey-wimey rewrite of The Daleks).
It looks like that VPN service is finally going to pay off! Now I just have to figure out when the show is airing (Next, on BBC1, airing a 7:45 PM for no clear reason…)
I have Dish Network and my scheduled recording of Doctor Who is for 4am on Saturday, but it is apparently a special preview and I don’t have a regular episode scheduled for recording. Going to have to check that out quickly.
