The Doctor has always been rubbish at flying the Tardis, The poor sentient machine likely bangs its metaphorical head off its own console.
I’m glad to hear that, but that means that River Song was either wrong or joking when she said it was the brake, I guess… I mean, fixing it so the noise is only heard outside sounds more like an acoustic filter or something…
I’m voting for joke, yes. Or deliberate put-down, like the “Shame you were out that day” comment.
It seems like it is/has been/will be that sort of relationship.
But they’ve already done that plot with Donna. It sounds like he just wants to kill a plot hook.
Did River escape from prison, or she just didn’t want to go back to prison? It sounded like she cut a deal.
But his time with Donna still exists, she just can’t remember it. I mean he has to erase his relationship with River such that they never even meet. I’m not crazy about this suggestion, but it’s definitely my prediction, though it may change after Saturday’s episode.
I have no idea what this means.![]()
Based on what I know and expect from Moffat at this point, I’d expect it wouldn’t be something so ham-handed as erasing River completely. He’s been clever enough with his writing thus far that I think we’ll see something satisfying for fans of both characters.
I have no idea what I’ve just watched. Steven, really, really!?
It wasn’t that bad was it? The Doctor waited for the big crack in time and space to swallow the Angels whole. Isn’t that it?
Moffat’s just wiped out all the RTD history! Amy is a game girl, and the Doctor is all “but I’m 907 years old!” hahahhhahha. Fucking splendid.
No, I loved it. It was just in many ways so unexpected
Being able to fool the angels by pretending to see struck me as a bit weak, but otherwise good, edge-of-the-seat stuff. No god-awful ‘coming next’ caption too.
That was fun. I like how the Bishop turned out to be a good guy. They’ve done that before.
There’s a big Doctor wearing/not wearing his jacket theory going round. Heh, Who fandom never change.
Did anyone else get the vibe that the man River killed was the Doctor?
Uh yeah. But not quite sure how it can worked out.
And for a second thought it tied in with the guess that she is a future incarnation, but nah. Among many reasons is that she didn’t recognize the Doctor in The Library, and if she was the Doctor she’s have remembered what she looked like before. And not be keeping a diary.
Another vote for Time Agent.
I also have to note that I am surprised that they haved moved the crack story so far along so fast. Yeah we all realized that the crack was where ever she was but they hadn’t seen it.
Loved the line after he’d protested with how old he is and “You know what that means don’t you?” … “It’s been a while?”
He created a plot hook back with River, implying that she knew the Doctor really well for a long period of time. And your prediction would mean
he’s coming up with a way to retcon what he established. That whole thing with River? Yeah, never happened. And you even get an in-story reason.
And you really don’t see the similarities with Donna? You had a companion that had to be removed from history (when she kills herself in Turn Left) and the ultimate result is that she doesn’t remember what happened.
IF you don’t like that, how about Season 3, where an entire year never happened? Again, just a giant retcon. But at least it was only a small part of the season (in fact, only one episode). Retconning someone from the previous season could change a heck of a lot of the Doctor’s history.
It sounds from the descriptions of the latest episode that, while your prediction was a bit off, he IS undoing everything RTD did. That strikes me as extremely petty. “Hey, Russell, you know that crap you wrote? Ha ha! It never happened!” Imagine if RTD did that with Classic Who. Fuck Moffat.
Yeah, but the problem is a lot of what RTD did was crap. It made for a very difficult stage to set the kind of Doctor Who that Moffatt loves (the original series) when everyone on earth is now intimately familiar with all the monsters. And stupid things like chanting the Doctor’s name worldwide brings him back from a weird tiny super-old creature to his former self is so dumb it needs a retroactive kick in the nuts.
Nah, Russell wrote himself into various dead ends story wise “and now there’s a billion trillion Daleks and look, Rose! and here’s a thousand foot tall Cyber monster stomping on London. Rose!”. Steven is just unpicking it a bit, much needed too.
If they’re wiping everyone’s memories of Daleks, etc. then will the wipe affect Torchwood too? They’ve exposed the Earth to some fun times themselves.
