Dodgers Question

Did the L A Dodgers always play at the Coliseum prior to Dodger Stadium opening in 1962?

Yes.
Dodger ballparks from the beginning.

The current Dodgers’ ball park was also called Chavez Ravine, but that might have just been the Angels’ name for the park while they were tenants.

It was Chavez Ravine long before there was a stadium there.

Yes, Dodger Stadium is not Chavez Ravine. That is where it resides though.

The Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles just prior to the start of the 1958 season. They played at the Colosseum for their first four years in LA.

The Angels played in Dodger Stadium, but didn’t want the name of the Dodgers in their publicity – they were competing for fans and it was not considered a good idea to remind people of your (better) competition in all your promotional material. So they called the ballpark Chavez Ravine.

Similarly, when the Jets played home games at Giants Stadium, they called it The Meadowlands.
