Mmmmmmm. Peanut butter. I eat a lot – three to four 16oz jars a week.
Crunchy.
I used to eat commercial low-fat extra crunchy. I ate too much. Too many carbs. Now I just do natural. I first used to think mixing the oil into it was a pain; it’s become a pleasurable pastime now.
In the morning on toast. In the afternoon with strawberry jelly or crackers. Sometimes in the middle of night right off the spoon.
For dinner in protein shakes with bananas, fiber, vitamins and oil blends.
As I type this, it is layered across the bottom of a bowl covered with cinnamon, ice cream and chocolate protein powder. (Ok, it’s my second bowl - thank heavens for Splenda in ice cream!).
I don’t do anything weird, like fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches.
How do you eat peanut butter?!?
Disclaimer: I run 100+ miles and swim 20+ km a month and drink more than 120 oz of water a day or I’d weigh a ton from all the peanut butter. Mmmmmm. Peanut butter. Even typing it makes my mouth water.
I only eat peanut butter one way…from the jar with a spoon.
I don’t eat more peanut butter than you. But this is only because I don’t buy it. I can’t afford the calories as I’m trying to lose weight now and have absolutely no control around peanut butter. I would eat (and have eaten)a whole jar in one sitting if no one was around. It’s like crack for me. When I do indulge and buy myself a jar, it is gone by the end of the next day after buying it. I only buy the all natural kind. I love stirring the oil in. I think I eat about 1/3 of the jar while I’m stirring it. I love love love peanut butter. OMG, I need a fix now.
I don’t eat as much peanut butter as you do. I like the edgy side of the creamy goober.
The best sandwich ever:
Two slices of bread, (duh) peanut butter on one, mayo on the other. Add 2 or 3 slices of bacon on the PB side, a slice of sweet onion, slices of avocado and lettuce. mmmmmm.
Cool! Similar to an old family favourite - Bread and PB, bacon and bananas mashed with mayo. As much filling as possible, best if it squishes out from the sides.
I haven’t had one of those in years. I do go through about a jar per week though. Usually liberally slathered on apple slices, bananas or cucumbers.
Weird though. I don’t care for peanuts, just peanut butter.
And then there’s Kroger Peanut Butter Passion Icecream. Hoo boy.
Add bananas to that sandwich, Guin, and that’s my absolute favorite way to eat peanut butter. On whole wheat bread. Not the Wonderbread equivalent of wheat, but the kind that’s dense and has cracked wheat on top and wheatberries in it. Oh, that’s a good sandwich.
I don’t eat a lot of PB, but I do like to eat it on graham crackers, with a glass of milk on the side. I was given this as a snack in the hospital, and enjoyed it, much to my surprise. I will also sometimes put a spoonful of peanut butter on a plate, and dunk pretzels in it. Again, I prefer to drink milk with this snack.
I don’t spread PB on celery, though. I prefer to use cream cheese for that.
I have had a peanut butter and peach preserves sandwich every morning for breakfast for years.
I only eat Peter Pan whipped, spread thick on toast. It doesn’t have to be peach preserves but that’s what I prefer. If I’m out of preserves I’ll use pancake syrup.
Several nights a week my SO and I will have the same set-up as a late-night snack.
We go through a jar every week between the two of us, so not nearly as much as you!
Mmm. Peanut butter on celery…cream cheese is good too, but you can mix them together.
Crunchy or creamy depends on the context. Crunchy is better on soft whole wheat bread with good strawberry preserves. Creamy is better with fruits or vegetables. (PB really is good on cucumber.)
I don’t like the hippy granola “natural” PB, or cheap store brands, Gotta be iconic name brands, like Skippy or Jif.
Who has tried the exotic flavoured ones? I’ve been eyeing this site for a while. I’d have to get one of each though.
I have a recurring conversation with an American friend about how i absolutely MUST try a ‘peanut butter and Jelly sandwich’ I believe ‘jelly’ is jam, and i believe they are trying to make me sick. It sounds gross.
Ever tried it on digestive biscuits? Simple yet fabulous.
I don’t care for jelly; I like jam and preserves better. Peanut butter and jam is wonderful. I like blackberry or backraspberry jam and preserves.
PB with orange marmelade on a toasted English Muffin is wonderful.
The quality of both (the PB and the jam) is essential. Do not buy generic store-brand PB. Jif is good, so is Peter Pan.
Ahhh, i see! Thanks for clarifying. I thought peanut butter and Jam sounded bad (when that’s what i thought they were talking about), but jelly sound worse. yuck.
If you adjust for body weight, my daughter might. If I let her, she would finish at least one jar a week, and she weighs 31 pounds.
Breakfast is usually one or two peanut butter sandwiches, with a peanut butter sandwich for lunch or dinner as well. She’s picky as hell and hardly eats any real food, but I figure PB on whole wheat bread is fairly nutritious at least. This week she’s on a PB on a spoon kick, and will happily eat three dinner spoons overloaded so they look like odd ice cream pops or something, all in one sitting.
I like using the new Skippy natural - it has no trans fat, but doesn’t need stirring. It’s like Whole Kids* except they changed the formula for the latter so it’s too runny now.
*Yeah, my husband asked if it’s made of mushed up children
