Does anyone else get weird vibes from the Simpsons "Bart Sells His Soul"?

Speaking of religious episodes, despite Richard Gere the Buddhist one is pretty good. My favorite parts:

“Please listen as the Noid gives us a sermon on the sancitity of deliciousness”

and Mr. Burns shaking his fist at God saying, “You’ll get yours” when a cross falls on his head.

There is something wrong with the entire show! It should be taken off the air!!! This is not a cartoon for kids and shoulnd’t be aired during dinner time.

Sounds like you’ve gotten into the horseradish again.

Why do you let your kids watch TV during dinner?

Also, why should a show be taken off the air because you don’t find it appropriate for your kids? When I was little, my parents had rules about what we could and could not watch, which for a time included The Simpsons as a forbidden show. We didn’t like it, but we dealt with it, and your kids can, too. I know that if I had kids, I wouldn’t let them watch Seventh Heaven or Friends, for very different reasons, but I don’t think that either should be off the air.

That’s not quite how it went.

(paper floats down, just as Bart finishes praying)

Bart: “Lisa, you bought this?”
Lisa: “With the change in my piggy bank.”
Bart: “There’s no change in your piggy bank.”
Lisa: “Not in any of the ones you know about.”
Bart: “Oh Lise, thank you.”
Lisa: “Happy to do it. But you know, Bart, some philosophers belive that nobody is born with a soul - that you have to earn one through suffering and thought and prayer - like you did last night”
Bart (bored voice, having just finished eating the paper): “Uh, huh.”
