Does anyone else have "hot" feet or understand what I mean?

I do not have hot feet, but I am usually indifferent to how they feel. This thread is the first time I noticed that they are cold in my house sandals. (I tend to prefer them to house shoes, which are usually slippery and lose their shape.)

I seem to be fine during the day, but simply can’t stand to have my feet covered at night. It always amused my hubs that I might be bundled up in 2-3 blankets when I sleep, but my feet are always sticking out.

I usually wear socks all day long to keep my feet warm. Whenever I’m wearing shoes, though, my feet become uncomfortably hot, and I usually have to take my shoes off during breaks at work or in the car to let them cool down.

I hot-footed to this thread to… Well, mostly just to make that pun, to be honest, and I’m amazed I’m the first one to do so :D, but also to be amazed by the infinite variety of human experience. Never in my life have I heard of hot feet, and here’s a whole host of people who have experienced it first, er, hand.

I’ve never had athlete’s foot, either. This summer, after dropping a box on my foot (and yes, I was wearing heavy shoes, thank goodness, or I might have broken more than just the toenail) I feared I had acquired a fungul infection in my injured nailbed, but apparently not. Bummer, that - had to pass up a chance to wade in Lake Michigan but better safe than sorry, right? Didn’t want to expose an open wound to whatever might have been floating just off shore.

However, I always thought athlete’s foot was more strongly linked to constantly wearing shoes, or spending time in public shower rooms, like at a pool.

Bless my wool socks, I’ve found the same thing. I strongly recommend socks made from merino superwash, which you can toss in with the regular laundry without them shrinking.

I also have hot feet. My entire metabolism seems to be hotter than others, so heavy jumpers / pullovers are never for me. I must always wear layers so I can reduce to now sleeves after walking or moving around.

But the hottest are my feet. Just as you describe.

Not hot, maybe, but certainly warm. I almost always have my feet outside the covers when falling asleep - except for those odd times in winter where my feet are freezing despite a warm-ish room. Then I put socks on, and huddle under the covers - until an hour or so later, when the socks come off and the feet are usually stuck outside the covers. My feets is weird.

I will go barefoot much of the year, indoors. I’ll have socks on only if it’s really cold, or if I just haven’t bothered to de-sock after being ouside wearing shoes. If it’s warm enough, I’ll wear sandals by preference.

I had no idea there were other people who had hot feet like I do. I almost never wear shoes and when I do they are sandals unless there is snow that I might have to walk through. I have had to stop shopping at Menards and find a place to sit down and take off my shoes to put my feet on the cool floor because they were so hot! I even pick up my pizza in bare feet. My feet are almost always uncomfortably hot. I have the fan blowing on them at night even in the winter. I always poke my feet out from under the covers. I never wear socks. And I too have had arguments with nurses at the hospital about going barefoot. People just don’t understand how uncomfortable it can be. I have been going barefoot so long the bottoms of my feet don’t come clean any more. Yes I have had an occasional injury to a foot or toe but I just can’t stand shoes and I really hate socks. I haven’t worn a pair of socks in years.
