It’s a channel founded by an antiques dealer in Edmonton, Alberta. I’ve followed along as he has bought hoarder houses and rummaged through them for antiques and collectibles hidden beneath the layers. He auctions off some of his finds as lots, and some he keeps to sell in his cute antique shop. Occasionally, he finds cash hidden in the hoard.
Any other watchers?
Never heard of it, but I sounds interesting.
I recently discovered a channel called Post 10, which is a man who lives in the Northeast and goes around with a rake during rainstorms, looking for flooding, and clears sewer grates and culverts. His observations are quite interesting.
My friend started watching it, and I got pulled in. Some of the things he finds are quite interesting.Back in August, I ordered a CBC classic-logo shirt from him, which I saw in the background of a shot of his store. Apparently that happens a lot.
I began watching him just before he found the first hoarder house, and then fell away, but now I’m back for this new hoarder house. Though it’s a less exciting one and probably after this I’ll likely be done.
Alex is nice and charismatically Canadian and all that, but it gets a bit repetitive after a while.
On the latest video (No. 11) of the new hoarder house*, Alex finds a roll of cash in a glass in the kitchen cupboard. He then gives it to his helpers. This was all very nice, but I don’t think I buy it. The kitchen cupboard was gray inside with dust and grime, but the roll of bills looked new and clean. I theorize he planted it both for ratings appeal and to give those folks some much-needed cash.
The vintage clothing dealer got a whole shit-ton of clothing, including many fur coats, for his $10,000. He’s probably stocked up for a decade.
*The very most recent video posted is a one-off of a filthy place that Alex and Josh skimmed through. This isn’t the video I’m talking about above.
I’ve been watching him for awhile. The hoarder houses are a small part of what he does. His main areas of interest/expertise seem to be toys, car memorabilia (signs, clothing, oil cans, etc.), watches, cameras, and some musical instruments. He’s also interested in railroad and military memorabilia and just likes to find odd things. And he manages to find a lot of odd and interesting things.
He’s renovated a series of cars, including the “Ghostbusters” ambulance that he uses to haul in loads. There is also a series of videos about moving to a larger store and renovating it to match its historical look. He’s renovated the interior of the store from time to time and when he gets overstocked, he’ll send a batch of items to auction.
He keeps busy.
The clothing dealer he contracted with finally said enough. He trucked away so much vintage clothing that he was drowning. That left Alex with all the clothing in that weird attic space accessed through the closet. The bags in there were full of Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses from the 1970s and 1980s. I remember those - they were beautiful and too expensive for teenage me. Hopefully he can sell them for a good price.
