My Google-fu is weak this morning.
On Christmas Eve, my church choir will be singing a piece called “The Little Jesu of Braga” written by a former organist back in 1931. The music mentions the text is from the legend by Oscar Avery. I think I’ve established the Braga in question is Braga, Portugal, but I haven’t been able to find out what the legend is and the text is vague about it.
We’ve got a choir full of curious Episcopalians, and, as anyone who’s seen the Episcopalians around here can tell you, that’s a dangerous thing. Picture Polycarp, Skammer, and Baker and others in search of something they don’t know!
If anyone knows anything about this legend or can find anything out, I’d love to have this bit of obscure ignorance fought and I will pass it on to the choir, all 50 of them.
Thanks,
CJ
