Does Anyone know this song?

The music is from Carmen, and Paul Wylie skated to it. Then I heard it in a beer commercial.

Got the Carmen tape, and couldn’t find this enchanting music.

Any ideas?

I think I can make an educated guess here. Wylie skates a “Carmina Burana” routine. Carmina Burana is the name of an opera. A piece of music from this opera called “O Fortuna” is used in a recent Guinness commercial. Could this be what you mean?

How do you know it’s from “Carmen?”

The memorable ones off-hand, although I don’t recall the names of all:

The Gilligan song: “I ask to be, or not to be. . . .” I don’t know the offical name. I call it “Carmen’s Theme.”

The Skipper song: “Be not a borrower, nor a lender be. . .” This is sung by the bullfighter.

The “Bad News Bears” theme: “March of the Toreadors.”

There is another song that (I think) has no lyrics in the opera Carmen, but it was given lyrics for the movie “Carmen Jones,” and sung by Pearl Bailey.

There are many other songs, but those are the most often used.

More Carmina Burana info, to suppliment Trion’s educated guess:
The composer was Carl Orff (1895-1982), and, (would you beleive), there is a FAQ for it.

The music has been used in several movies (of which Excalibur is a good example) and numerous commericals… I vaguely recall that it was once colloquially known as “The Old Spice theme”.
