Does anyone remember the blue, aniseed-flavoured Tic Tacs?

There’s a discussion going on here in the office this afternoon about Tics Tacs and the various flavours that have been available. I definitely remember a blue version being sold when I was at school (late 1970s). They were aniseed-flavoured and tasted awful. I haven’t seen them for years though. Does anyone else remember them?

It sounds a bit like those candies they sometimes have in a dish at Indian restaurants instead of mints. They’re some sort of licoricey-tasting seed, some covered in a tic-tac-like sugar coating.

Hmm…are you sure those weren’t just Australian ones?

(Yank in Australia here)

I see all sorts of Tic Tac flavours here that I didn’t see at home, though. I don’t remember the aniseed ones in the US, and I was a big fan of Tic Tacs at that time (they were a bit trendy and I was of the age to be trendy way back then.)

No help otherwise.

Cheers,
Gleena

I so seem to remember aniseed flavoured tic-tacs at some point, but I think they were red. I’m not certain whether at the same time, they migh have had, say, a “spearmint” flavour which might have been blue. Mid or late 1970s would have been around the right time too.
(Not in Oz, but in U.K.)

Weren’t the red Tic Tacs cinnamon? They were disgusting.

That’s quite possibly the case.

Yes, the red ones were cinnamon. I agree - they were disgusting.

I’m pretty sure the spearmint ones in Australia were green and the blue ones were the aniseed ones. But nobody else here in the office remembers the blue Tic Tacs and I can’t be 100% certain either now after nearly 30 years.

Is the OP talking about Sen-Sen?

No. I’ve never heard of Sen-Sen. I was referring to Tic Tacs that were blue.

I had aniseed tic tacs in Northern France in around 1983 or 1984. They were pale blue in colour and I thought they were delicious. Aniseed is a very polarising flavour as per the somewhat similar liquorice flavour, you either like it or you don’t like Marmite or Vegemite etc.

Never seen that flavour since sadly.

I was thinking the OP’s description sounded familiar, but when I saw your post, I think that might be what I was thinking.

But I remember when Tic Tacs first came out, they were a huge deal, everyone had to eat them, so if there were some in the early days, I’m sure I had them. I saw new flavors in the US last year; especially liked the strawberry/cotton candy flavor, with two different shades of pink. (Can’t get Tic Tacs here.)
