Does every holiday have a movie in which it gets celebrated in?

For example, Family Man. The main time period is Christmas.

I know, I know, I could have said something like A Christmas Carol or It’s a Wonderful Life, but I’m trying not to name those that A. Are JUST about Christmas and nothing else, and B. Doesn’t have the holiday mentioned in the title.

I’m also trying to avoid movies in which the holiday is just celebrated for a minute or two. For example, Forrest Gump has The Fourth of July and New Years, but I wouldn’t consider that a movie for those holidays. I’m talking about movies that have holidays that take up almost the entire movie, but are not soley JUST about that holiday. Er…does that make any sense?

Others:

The Ice Storm has Thanksgiving that takes place in it.

Space Invaders has Halloween.

Critters 2: The Main Course takes place on Easter.

Mallrats took place around Easter, as evidenced by the fact that there was an Easter Bunny court set up in the mall, but it wasn’t an Easter movie. I don’t think there are any Easter movies except for the ones about Jesus.

Even April Fool’s Day has a movie, so quite possibly.

It’s only when you get the the more minor Federal holidays like President’s Day and Arbor Day that you start to have trouble.

Well there’s Dancing at Lughnasa, that’s a pretty osbscure holiday. If that holiday has a movie I think they all must be covered.

I would think that Trading Places is a two-fer—both Christmas and New Year’s Eve symbols appear over a good part of the movie.

I may be misremembering, but I’m almost sure that Gremlins 2 is set around Presidents’ Day.

Saved! actually structures its timeline around the holidays, so there’ several in there: Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day. Don’t remember what else. Surprisingly good movie too.

And, of course, there’s The Wicker Man for Christopher Lee induced Beltaine fun! :smiley: (Horrible, horrible movie. Really.)

SPOILSPORT: I’m not aware of any movies for Juneteenth, the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday or Kwanzaa — yet.

Holiday Inn has sequences highlighting several holidays, with musical numbers for most of them. It’s probably the only film to feature Lincoln’s Birthday (with the jaw-droppingly racist “Abraham” musical number), but also covers Christmas (with the much better “White Christmas”), New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, Washington’s Birthday, Easter, 4th of July, and Thanksgiving.
