Mr. Pug has gotten four interviews in the last two months; he only got one (cheesey) interview in the eight months previous to that. It seems to me that there are more openings lately for which he is a good fit. Has anyone else observed this trend? I’m trying to establish if this is just an isolated coincidence for us or if it’s picking up a bit in general.
I think it’s picking up. A number of people in my office, including me, were laid off in March. Most of us are now employed.
Pfft. Oh yeah, there are LOTS more jobs – Mr. S has TWO of them  , three if an interview this week goes well. He’s working as a substitute custodian in the local school district (and possibly in another district after the interview) and is also temping at a food-packing plant that will be phasing out its temp positions by the end of the year.
Right now his best bet is for one of the regular old-fogey-well-past-retirement-age custodians to either retire or die so that he can be up for a full-time position. Until then, we never know how much work he’ll have each week, if any at all.
The ads in the paper are the usual slim pickin’s we’ve been seeing for months, so no, in our area there is no such trend.
Yeah, in the past couple of weeks I’ve been contacted twice for a job, and I’m not looking!
I don’t think so, but then it appears I am the only so far to feel that way.
