I’m currently suffering from sort of martian death virus, and all I want to do once the Tylenol wears off is curl up under about six blankets and sleep. So my question is, does keeping the body warm and getting lots of rest actually help you get over the illness quicker, or does it just provide some relief from symptoms, or what? Has anyone done a study on this? I know that common sense says that getting rest helps you get better quicker, but is there any actual data supporting it? I’m just kinda curious.
Alternative medicine link says bed rest actually helps. I believe chicken soup has been clinically proven to be helpful also. In general I go by the rule that when you want nothing more than to curl up and sleep, your body is telling you to curl up and sleep.
Disclaimer: this post does not constitute medical advice.
When you rest, it gives your body more of a chance to heal itself. When you are active, it tires you out, and its harder to heal.
Keeping warm only helps you feel better when you have a fever. If its summer, and 90 degrees, I do not think it will help; in fact, it may dehydrate you.
So make sure to drink often.
