I feel like Ford is more sincere than other companies in their efforts toward plug-in vehicles, but haven’t got there yet. Their hybrids look pretty good to me though, don’t you agree?
Well the 2013 Fusion is coming this fall. The article doesn’t say but I think it will get about 15 miles to a charge, plus act as a hybrid with regenerative braking.
The price isn’t listed, but I assume it must be far closer to affordable than the Volt considering the more limited electric range. For daily driving in-town, any plug-in capacity at all is just about good enough, especially if the thing gets 41mpg otherwise, and especially as cities install places to plug them in.
And with the 2012 Fusion anyway, Ford gives customers the option of whether or not they want the computerized do-dads. Buying just a plug-in car and not a Kitt saves ~$5000, and I don’t think I am the only one who would prefer that option. Not just the money- I do not want to talk to my car, and I do not want it to talk to me.
Are realistically-priced plug-in hybrids finally becoming a reality this year?
