RE the shake weight

I picked up the ladies 2.5 lb female version the other day from Goodwill.

The wiki does not say much about the demonstrated efficacy or lack thereof of the workout routine. The website (obviously) touts it as “insanely intense”.

In using the female model the 2.5 lbs is effectively almost nothing to lift. It does require some effort to keep it rapidly oscillating, but the shaking motion using a standing 2 handed grip shakes your whole upper body which is jarring and somewhat unpleasant. I shook it as fast as possible for 2 minutes straight, my arms did start to warm up a bit and if I kept it up i would have been hard pressed to keep up the rapid pace for more than another minute or two.

If I send 5-6 minutes doing that am I getting a useful workout? Would using the 5 lb men’s model make a big difference.

Anybody a shake weight user? Do you like it?

I don’t know how it is for exercise, but the ads make for good parodies.

i used it several years ago, …lwhen you do it the right way it really does given an excellent workout and can feel the burn in your muscles. it has to do not so much with the weight but something to do with how its designed and how you use it
