The ad doesn’t offend me morally, but it does offend my directorial sensibilities. Look at it again. She isn’t looking at the sandwich, but straight ahead, over the top of it. Obviously she isn’t shocked by the burger but rather by whomever is standing in front of her, preparing to shove his burger…deep…into…her…mou…um…
Ahem.
Anyway she should have been told to look downward.
Client base? Apparently Burger King doesn’t have a client base. Thus, turning on a bunch of horny, obese teenage boys might be seen as an improvement in food sales.
So now BK’s theme appears to be “Offend oversees, stir up attention, then apologize”. On the one hand, “any publicity is good publicity” at work. On the other hand, giving people bad associations with your product brand cannot be a good thing.
I haven’t had BK in years. Don’t like McDonalds, either, and prefer BK over McDonalds.
I thought the Kingon commercials were mildly funny, but the “King” commercials were actively repulsive. I have no desire to reward them for that advertising strategy.
Here’s an idea for BK - make decent food at reasonable prices and don’t annoy the potential customers with your commercials.
